My buddies 92-93 hatch won't start. It's bone stock. It cranks but won't start. Now when he turns the key to ON it clicks a few times in a row. I'm thinking main relay, but how can I check that? TIA

 

Doesn't the main relay control the fuel pump? See if you hear the pump come on when you turn the car on. If it does, main relay should be ok.

 

check to see if you are getting spark

 

How many times does it click? When he turns the key what happens? just cranking and cranking?

Check:

Fuel
Spark
Timing

in that order.

 

Thx guys. He brought over the main relay and i resoldered 2 of the points. THat didnt' really help at first but it finally started up again. The clicking was the ******* turn signal that he had on. He didn't realize it was on (I was talking to him on the phone so I had no idea). Hopefully that's the solution.
