Default P72 on sohc

I am currrently running a high c/r Y8 with an OBD1 P28. My ecu is currently chipped and I will be using Uberdata to tune along with a wideband sensor and EGT.

What I am wondering, is would the knock sensor board in a OBD1 P72 along with my current OBD2 knock sensor in my block be a good safeguard when trying out new tunes?

the stock knock sensor sucks and wont detect knock after 4-4.5 k rpms.
