i have both cars in my possession i just cant see what the extra 100lbs come from on a 1989 hatch ?
88 = 1941lbs
89 = 2049lbs
88 = 1941lbs
89 = 2049lbs
well there's lots and lots of little differences... I suppose one way or another it adds up
possibly seat belt differences may make up some of the gain, I know most 1988 hatch's had seatbelts on b-pillars while in 89 they began implementing passive seat belt restraints (door seat belts). May be a heavier mechanism.
can't see that being 100lb of stuff, but maybe you can get 20 out of that.

well i have a 88 standard hatch and it weighed in just a hair over 2k with b-swap and only the a/c compressor removed..... i would be really pissed if i went to a one year newer car that weighed 2150 with a bswap with NO AC AT ALL PERIOD! im gonna get my 89 weighed bone stock see what it tips the scales at
we talking STD, DX or Si
1988 STD 1933
1988 DX 1993
-------------------
1989 STD 2013
1989 DX 2088
1989 Si 2161
heh, the 91 Si tips the scales at a whopping 2291, dayam. that's over 350lb more than an 88 STD.

Heavier doors? Sound deadening? Same audio in both cars? Did one car have more gas in the tank or wiper fluid than the other? Scale wasn't zeroed/was lying to you? Thats a crazy ammount for an 88/89 diff.
grrr
grrr
i know that ther is a difference but cant figure where the hell it would come from . . .
Damn I am stumped prob some structural parts added if you ask me along with sound profing and such

cool, let us know how much it weighs bone stock, then let us know what it weighs stock.

this diffrence in the eat belts make a HUGE diffrence, also, the 88 hatch, and lower control arms are significantly less weight, also the 88 hf had aluminum rear drums that save a good bit of wieght also,
your talking about a crx hf my friend we are talking about 88std hatch, the drums on the hf crx are aluminum if you swap them with your metal drums its like a total of 8lbs at each corner.
I have a 88std and their is absolutely nothing then them at all. I basically took the entire car apart and put it back together with parts from other cars. Their is little **** such as the 88std model only has one horn, the bolts that hold the bumper on are only 10 mm opposed to 12mm like the Si is. Their is no dead padel to rest your foot on like the si has. Numerous people named the rear lower control arms already and the seat belts. Oh yeah I believe the 88 has a smaller gas tank also, but don't quote me on that. I should know considering I fill up my tank all the time.
Oh yeah I wouldn't trust those numbers to a certain degree about the stock weight.

I hope you are taking into consideration the acuracy of the scale. They are made to weigh semi's.... I think a friend told me (who works at a local weighin station) that the difference is + or - 50lbs. Its not vary accurate with small stuff. Larger stuff like semi's make a difference.
my 89 dx has piller belts. i like those a lot more. the 88 had different side impact beams i think. there were to gas tanks. a 10.x tank and an 11.9 tank. my 89 dx has the 11.9. the interior is probably different such as seats and carpet and sound deadining. if were looking at an hf and an si, the mpfi and 5 speend tranny weighs more also. many other things i dont feel like saying as well...
and there are other scales then a semi one. there are scales for cars.

this is false. i am a truck driver. certified trucks scales like cat scales, or flying j or any other truck stop scales have to be acurate to the number because they guarantee thier weights. they claim "you weigh what we say, or you dont pay" meaning if you go acorss a set of scales for a state on the interstate, and they say you are over weight, we will pay the over weight fine, or show up in court. over weight fines are by the pound, and start around 5 cents per pound. so your friend is wrong! i once stood on one of these truck scales, it told me i weighed exactly what i really weighed. 262 ponds in 2001.

That wasn't what I was saying, guess I didn't say it clear enough. I was trying to say that in 1989 all hatches and CRX HF had pillar mounted.
