Engine bay cleaning, what to tape off?
Hey guys, I reallllly want to clean my engine bay but I just can't get the ***** to put a hose to it, can you tell me what is safe and not safe to spray off? are all the engine harness plugs and so forth water proof, lol its a noob question but I don't wanna mess anything up. Thanks, Josh
thanks for the info, I may try the brush and bucket and some degreaser...
Should I be careful around the headgasket? I wonder how chemicals would do seeping around it and what not.

I've cleaned my bay quite a few times with no cover. Even with the covers on, they're not completely sealed, and water can get inside, it's not a problem. I cover the distributor, fuse box, and usually the put a plastic bag around the spark plug wires (where they meet the valve cover), and go to work.
