Default Advantages the EG has over the EF

I have this topic in the EF forum as well, but I wanted to know what the EG guys thought about it. What advantages do the EG hatches have against teh EF hatches, also what are the DISADVANTAGES compared to the EF?

um, we have more info in our forum!

seriously, what kind of thread is this? sorry man, but these answers are all gonna be a bit biased and opinionated. what it all boils down to is opinions and a like in a certain style.

i think we can all agree the EG and EF are quite different from each other, especially in style.

determines where your from but in the northern states where snow is found it's nearly impossible to find a EF without any rust. Isn't so bad for the EG's but I just had my EG8 shipped from cali to WI to avoid the hassles.

i understand that it will be biased, but thats why i asked in both forums..im not really looking for answers as far as looks and stuff, more or so technical, performance type of things. which is lighter, handles better etc. etc. i know its harder to find things for the EF to make it a little "luxury" because EFs cant just swap ex door panels like EGs can. I have a EF right now, but im thinking of getting a EG, but i wanted to know how much of a difference in cars they are.

I think a little rust with some steelies on the EF and you have a good basis for a great sleeper.

EG has cleaner looking dash / cluster, whole interior.
EF looks so old school.

Performance wise, they dont differ much.

eg doesnt have radius rods, eg has a 1/2 size radiator making more room for turbo (unless u got a/c condensor which mine didnt come with). eg has obd1 and hydro tranny, mounts for an engine swap are easy to get and cheap (local junkyard with a 94-01 teg. the ef high points, cable clutch isnt so bad, da teg parts can transfer over, and some people dig the box. its all about personal preference and what u wanna do with the car and of course your bank roll.

While I can't say for sure, I've heard EFs are much harder to work on than EGs, as far as maintenance and modification. The age factor with rust would be partly responsible for that, but apparently so is the design. As an example, changing pads and rotors on an EF would be more difficult than on an EG.

A swap for an EG is usually a piece-of-cake.

Niether I or any of my friends will do swaps in EF's anymore.... It's too big of a pain in the ***. There is a thread that
has a whole list-o-**** that has to be done to swap an EF. I'd find it for ya' but I really dont care.
And actually, about a month ago, there was a 10page thread exzactly like this one... compairing EG's and EF's. Look it up, its got all kinds of good stuff. Save us all some time.

i prefer 92-95. but i wouldnt mind a 89-91 crx. we have no clue what you plan to do with it. you get get good suspension parts for both, and do swaps into both. ask a EF owned how their car handles at about 130 or 140. twitchy.

I have owned both model cars and I preffer the looks of the eg but in handling the eg has a light *** end. My ef hb handled 5x better than my eg and the eg has way more suspension work done to it. My friend said the same thing about his 95 si vs his 91 si. The eg can be swapped with lots of teg parts which is great. More room in the engine bay is also good. As for the people that are saying the ef is harder to work on well I think your all crazy. I have done swaps in both of mine and some friends plus plenty of normal maintenance and have seen no difference. I might have gotten lucky. My eg is a southern car and both of my ef's were from Md so I had to deal with some of the rust issues but not that bad. Just my .02
