Just got a Teg, have a few questions
Sorry if these have been answered, but I did some searching and could not find exactly what I wanted.
I just got a 98 GS today and am looking into the future. I wanna get an exhaust(I'm sure you've heard this before...) but I want something that isn't too far off from the stock looking tail pipe. I work at a dealership, and we have a Prelude with a Greddy axle back exhaust of some sort that was traded in. Now with a CAI this thing sounds beast, but the coffee can sticking out its butt really doesn't appeal to me. My friend has a Magnaflow he will sell my for $20, but he says its loud and I don't think I want something that loud, because my system is pretty loud and I don't want a ton of attention from unwanted people. I want something with a nice sound, but not something that will attract morons at a stoplight that think I wanna race, and with a more stockish look than coffee can look.
I'm also about to buy springs, this weekend actually. I am looking at Neuspeed's. 2in in the front, 1.75in in the rear. Now I've seen these on a 97 Accord and they looked good, but I haven't seen them on G3 Teg. Anyone with a similar drop have and info for me. Yay or Nay type with reasons. I have the stock LS rims on stock size rubber. I will be getting 16in Superleggra's wrapped in 215/45s sometime in the future from my friend, and I want something that will look good with either. From what I've seen, the two sets of rims are almost identical in size, so it shouldn't make a difference in appearance when I switch, but I don't know as much as you guys do, so I have come for help. My friend has a G2 with Ground Control coils, dropped aproximentaly 3 inches, probably a little less and it looks great, I'm hoping a little less of a drop on a G3 would also look good.
Sorry for the long post, but I figured I better give a lot of info so I wasn't wasting time answering a ton of questions before I got answers. Thanks for your help guys and after 12 hours I already love my Teg.

RS*R Ex-Mag if you're looking for stock looking exhaust + quiet with nice low tone rumble.
I have pictures and sound clip of it on my GS-R, but my host seems to be down right now. I'll post them when the host goes back up. or, you can IM @ kevin85193 and I'll send them to you via. AIM.
Springs, I don't know much about. so I won't comment.

some to most people dont really like the front to be lower then the rear. very hard to find a spring that gives you an equal drop on all 4 corners. unless you go the Coilover route.
me, personally, i prefer springs if you're not going to do any autoX or anything. and i say this cuz springs, you put them in, and thats it. same with coilovers, but if you adjust them after you have an allignment, and didnt count the threads from the bottom up to your setting, you'll have to get another allignment to get ur wheels with in spec.
but its all up to you. if you want a true coilover system, go with tein. either basic, or superstreet (ss). ground controls are also very very popular, yet not a true coilover system (threads on shock), they work very good also. you have the tokico spring and shock system, which i've heard is very good. omni coilovers, skunk2 coilovers, eibach springs(used with groundcontrols), h&r sport and race, tein(i got), skunk 2, sprint, and the list goes on. im not exactly sure the drop that the springs give you. you might have to do research for yourself on that, or someone in here should know.
also camber kit is a given with any drop lower then stock.. or .5" drop.. i think its .5 to 1.5" drop, you can get 0-1.5degree camber, then from 1.6"+ drop, you'll need a 1.5-3.0degree camber. popular brands for those are ingalls, skunk2, omni, i think.. and a few others.
all this depends on your budget and what kinda ride you want. for shocks, you have koni yellows(very popular with GC's), tokico illumina's (i personally got) and kyb agx's (cheapest out of adjustable shocks), and then you have your non adjustable lower end shocks of the 3 brands also.
exhaust:
RS*R exhaust is going to be your best bet.. if you want aftermarket, with a close to stock sound. it has a rounded tip which helps keep things silent.. and some stuff in the muffler to keep it silent too, and i dont think this muffler/exhaust system has a glass pack which usually makes any exhaust with that equipt, very loud. umm if you dont want aftermarket, but want something a tad bit louder then stock, you can go with an ITR exhaust system. but if you plan on doing big numbers with your engine, you'd want the better flow of an aftermarket exhaust.
rims/tires:
if i were you, i wouldnt go with a 215/45 for a tire, i'd go more like, 205/45. because if you go low, not sure how low, you're going to get some rubbing on ur fenders which in time, will start to carve a groove in your tire. some people do have 215's mind you, but they more then likely rolled there fenders to fit a tire of that width. 205 is more common for an aftermarket tire on a teg, and i believe its cheaper.. but not by much. also i think that having a wider tire will slow ur acceleration down a bit. i have a site that someone can post for you, cuz i dotn remember it off the top of my head, its on my other computer. but it tells you how much your rim and tire will throw off the speedo.. but not too many people worry bout that.
hope this helps
good luck bro
and welcome to tegs..

yeah that sounds good. as far as springs go... u can go with coilovers. which i think would be better in the long run. just in case u decide to raise/lower the car. especially when it rains. if u get cai, ur gonna need a bypass valve. i know that most of the time, there wont be much water comin in.. but u know.. just in case... yeah..
anyways... coilovers... go with tien ss. its a good setup. if u do want springs.. u can go with eichbach sport line.. i think thats what its called. i was rollin on those for a while. those with koni shocks. it was a good setup too. had a 2in drop. but yeah. its all u.

Thanks guys. A friend of mine suggested that I keep my stock exhaust and have a muffler shop make me new pipes. I believe he said the stock ones are 2" and that I should go with a 2.5". He has a Spoon exhaust on his S2000 and he said it would be a little quieter than his, and thats about what I'm looking for.
For the springs: I wasn't really looking to spend the money on a full coilover setup. I was thinking more like getting the springs, and then getting some illuminas a little after that. I had already figured I would need a camber kit, but wasn't sure what I'd need, so thanks for that info. I've found a few kits that were a 2.25'" drop all around, but thats too much. I've thinking that maybe I can find a kit that is 1.75" and get that. I gotta make up my mind by Thanksgiving, because thats when I'm ordering, so that it will get processed Friday and be at my door early next week.
About the rims: I found out from my friend, that it is actually a 205 tire on his rims, so that'd probably be perfect. I'm hoping his gunmetal rims will look nice on my white Teg. We are gonna throw them on my car after the drop just to see what they look like. I had found a calculator on team-integra.net that did the speedometer calculations with different sizes and I think the 205/45/16 was .3mph less than the stock or something like that. I think 215/45/16 was .3mph more than stock. Something like that, maybe it was the other way around, I can't remember. In any case it wasn't gonna make a real difference.
Thanks a lot for your help guys.
