I want to have one bad *** all motor. Aiming 250+ to the wheels. What do you recommend for parts and motor.

I'd go with a K20a if I were you.The K24 would require you to build it up to be able to get the power and rev's from it,while the K20 can do it on a stock bottom end.The stroke of the k24 is just too big to be a long lasting engine when revved high.

If you want to have a bad *** motor definetly K24, you know, that whole displacement thing is under rated

Be ready for some big buck spending...

For your goal, go K20a2 or K20a. You have enough compression for possibly bigger cams, on top of being able to extract so much power from the motor with just bolt ons and tuning.

i dont see the purpose and logic in throwing in such a long stroke block when you have to build it for reliable. And your goal doesnt require that.

Go with a wider powerband and i would always go with a bigger bore before a longer stroke.
Til this day, i dont understand how ppl dont see that most of the power comes from the head.

More displacement is not always the answer.

k24 built bottom, k20a head. Basic bolt ons and a good tune. Easy 250+++++

If you werent making power that high than you wouldnt need it to rev that high, but the K20 does make power up high and wouldnt require a build to make good power. The K24 has a weak bottom end in stock form and would need the build to make good power. The stroke of the K24 is too big in my opinion for a reliable race car.If you wanted to make good power you would need big cams which would require more rev's which the K24 cant handle and would wear out sooner even when built. The K24 does make really good torque though.

next gen frankenstein is always a interesting choice, skunk2 has made great power with this setup, but im not sure if they are using it in their race car, i would look into it, hell if i had the money i'd give it a try

go k24 bottom end for torque and k20 head, if you can afford k-pro go for it also toda head package and you'll be very fast!!!!!!

why not just keep the k20.. you'll have enough torque with it.

Im still new to the whole k-series motor thing and I am thinking of getting one to put in a EH Hatch!

Is it true that the bore on K24 is 87mm and the stroke is 99mm?

i am thinking K24 just b/c I am one of those non-vtec ******** and 99mm's of stroke sounds like there is some potential power to be made!

yes stock bore is 87mm.... one thing you forget about the stroke of 99mm - when combined with stock rod length (153mm) makes for incredibly high piston speeds which can KILL reliability & power at high revs

Dont plan on reving high! I'll more than likely make power at lower than 8K just like other nonvtecs! What is its factory redline and factory specs?

Well that is only 1.55 RS ratio. That is better than the LS/B20VTEC's 1.54 and they spin those to 8K all day long. I would still stick with the K24A2 with swapped pistons/IM. They are only $1300 on http://www.car-part.com

A lot of the road racing guys are going from the K series back to the B series. Though this is on a stock bottom end, they said the rod bolts are failing very shortly after a mis-shift. No personal experience with this so you might want to search in the RR/AX forum.
