Should I change Tranny Fluid.
I have a 94 accord with 143k miles on it. I bought it about 4 months ago. The car seems to shift a little rough sometimes but for the most part shifts pretty smooth. Do you guys think I should try and change the transmission fluid or let it go since I dont know the last time it was change, I dont want to hurt the tranny by changing it if so.

that pretty much sum up the whole thing.
well, except for one.
if you have an automatic transaxle, check the dipstick.
look for little black particle(like sometime off your grill after a fun night of bbq)
it's a sign of mess up clutch pack, most of time if you fuild the tranny and add new atf into it, the whole thing just quit working. Some weird stuff happens at our workshop

I think you should, I changed my prelude transmission fluid and it is much better than before. It is not that expensive either, it's part of the maintence thing everyone should keep up with.
NO! ive had hella problems with transmissions in my car. thats the first thing every mech. told me was if its at like 100k or over and never been changed. dont mess with it. it supposedly will screw it up for sure. i would talk to a mech about it for yourself. but i know i had atleast 5 diff people tell me that when i first had problems

theres alot of hype about auto trannies and the fluid changes
but some of the times when it hasnt been changed in awhile and they go to get it changed there tranny was already messed up, the reason for the fluid change.
Its a risk but your the one that needs to make the desision you might be fine.
I just changed the fluid in my 97 for f150 and it hasnt been changed since like 35K it now has a 160K and its fine so you may get lucky
just make you own desision

make sure to only use genuine honda atf or the car will shift very hard, i had this problem with my 89 accord and swapped the fluids and cleared it right up. the car also had 160k on it when i bought it and i had no problems with the fluid change, but i cannot quote how long the other fluid had been in the vehicle.
you should change the fluid. since you have a pre '98 car you don't have to use honda ATF though i would highly reccomend using it. you can use any dexron III ATF out on the market. to sum things up honda auto trannies are weak, use the honda fluid and change it about every 20k if you drive your car hard.
this is a really reall stupid question, but is there like a manual transmission fluid? or is it manual transmission oil? im not sure, if such a thing does exist how would you go about changing it?

yes there is. you can use 10w-30 oil, but i always used honda MTL. (manual transmission lube)
changing this one is more of bitch than the ATF. if you get under your car on the side of the tranny there are two bolts. the bottom one is a drain bolt the top one is a filler. you drain it and put the bolt back in and then cram as much oil in through the top bolt till it spills out. you need a special pump to make this easier.

Always change the fluid. It is so easy to do. You just use a 3/8 inch ratchet at the plug. (automatic). Measure the fluid and replace it with the same amount- always.
You never get all the fluid out; so if your fluid is dirty- change it at every other oil change for about two or three times. You will see filings on the magnetic plug- just wipe them off. Keep the fluid clean. This goes for every automatic. Honda doen't have an accessible filter. This is the cheapest most economical way to get back on track with regular interval changes- once the fluid is clean.
Use only OEMHonda fluid.
