Default help me figure out a setup for my beater....

i just purchased a 91 integra for a daily driver not too long ago that came w/stock stereo and speakers. i was looking to see if anyone could suggest me a whole system that includes a head unit w/aux inputs, i-pod, amp, rear speakers, 12" sub, and/or components for something around 500-600 dollars. thanks in advance!

You might want to adjust your price a little. $600 might not be enough for all the stuff you want. You could probably do it, but not with quality parts. i don't know the price but there is an Alpine headunit that you can plug an ipod into and control the ipod with the stereo, every other system has an adapter that you connect the ipod too. All the functions are controlled on the ipod, not the stereo.

Speakers I would get Infinity reference series. They are cheap and sound really good. I think you have 6.5" speakers all the way around, shops sell the Infintys for about $99 a pair. If you go to ebay you can get them for about $50 a pair.

Do you want to amp the inside speakers too or just the sub?

Well if you do it on ebay you could probably do it withyour budget. I would guess at car shop prices, about 250 for the deck, 200 for speakers, 300 for amp and 150 for sub.

Adapter to connect aftermarket radio to stock radio harness about $12-$15. Wiring kit for amp install between $30-$60. I'm San Diego too, let me know if you need help with install, I used to work at a couple car stereo shops...

u can get a good used alpine deck for 200 with aux inputs to plug in your ipod

im looking for one too

not sure bout speakers, but i have some pioneer 4" i can give you for cheap.

for 5 1/2" or 6 1/2" it will run about 60-70 for decent ones and about 100 for decent 6x9".

depends on how you want to hook your ipod up. i know that alpine came out with a control interface that lets you control your ipod through the deck. bad thing is this interface runs like 80 on ebay. if you don't mind looking at your ipod and using that to change songs and stuff you can just run an AUX cable to the ipod. so you figure a decent alpine deck will be about 200, with the interface you're looking at aroudn 280. with an AUX cable about 240 (alpine has a goofy little aux plug where you can't just use a regular sire).
as far as speakers go i'd suggest infinty. sometimes you can find stores like circuit city having a buy-one-get-one-half-off sale, if not look on the web. about 100 for all four (if you have 6.5 all around). if you want to amp those probably a nice little alpine amp, about 140 on ebay. then the sub an amp depends on what all you want. assuming you do your own installation then you factor in about another 50 or so for a wiring harness, amp install kit, the dash kit. i think you could do a nice little system for about 600.

k well since you're on a very tight budget ditch the rear speakers. get a 4 channel amp and use 2 channels for the front speakers then bridge the other 2 channels to run the sub. as far as exactly which components you're going to go with i cant say i'd be much help.

and do components make that much of a difference? would it be better off running 4 speakers instead of tweeters, crossovers etc? thanks

you'd be better off running a component set in the front. the rears are useless
