Default $40.00 Silver Star Bulbs.....Good for the money.

O.k., Im shure we've all seen the "Silver Star, Silvania" brand bulbs on the shelf for more than what were willing to pay for some boot leg H.I.D. Bulbs. But I tell you this, after spending $15 bucks here and there on cheap replacements it adds up real quick. So I broke down and bought a pair of these fancy overlly priced units-and to my surprise I don't regret it. They are very bright and look really sweet at night coming down the road. I bought these for my factory lights, and plan on picking up another pair for my projectors come spring when I put them back on.

Bottom line is this is you could get a decent set of higher quality bulbs that do what they say, and perform as well as they look!

$40 for headlamp bulbs is $35 too much in my opinion.

...but maybe that's just me. I used to sell Silver Star bulbs when i worked at an auto parts store, so I know what they look like.

silverstars are ghey...everyone that ive known has had them burnout, and quick too. I got the G.E. superblues for 10 dollars each and did the 9005 conversion. Instead of superblue they are superwhite really. Screw silverstars

Silverstars look great but they are known for burning out as well. There are a few "HID" look bulbs like Koba/Eurodesignz/Streetglo etc that can be found for $20 a pair and come with a warranty. The Eurodesignz come with a lifetime warranty!

They work great on two of my cars, but you better mean 40$ for the pair, or else your getting ripped off.

Silverstars fool you into thinking they are brighter by changing the color temperature of the light (whiter.) In fact, the lumen output is no better then any other halogen bulb.

Save your money and get the Philips/Sylvania Xtravisions. They are actually a little brighter, have no lumen robbing coating on the bulb and will last much, much longer than the Silverstars.

happy birthday! mine is on st. patty's day too.

back on topic, i have the silverstars in my 4runner and my civic and i like them. i used to have PIAA's in my del sol and i like the silverstars better. i just wait till i find a coupon for them before i buy them. both autozone and advance run specials on them quite a bit, usually $10 off a pair.

I was looking for better lighting so I threw on the Silverstars (the euro version without the blue coating). They burned out in less than a year, and yes I followed the directions perfectly not touching the glass and cleaning them as recommended before install. I put the factory bulbs back in and they've lasted ever since.

I had silverstars in my Accord. Mine burnt out in about 6-7 months. I have Philips/Sylvania Xtravisions now. And these are much better.

9006/9005 HKS hyperwhites get my vote all day, have had them for 4 years in my hatch w/ no issues and I get asked what brand they are everywhere I go. They did cost 50$ a set though, so at 100$ for hi/lo beam they're not the cheapest option.

Silverstar, I used to sell them. It's either they last like 3 years and are super bright, or they keep blowing! They suck.

Cool blue by Sylvanias are nice.

I ran eurolite in the prelude, nice clear bright blue light out of it.

I ran cool blue in the civic, more then what it needed.

I replace my bulbs everyyear regardless, bulbs dim.
