Anyone wonder why Autos get EGR and not 5spd...
I was hoping someone could shed some light on this.
I wonder if either the Auto's are tuned to run leaner (more combustions heat) to get better MPG to compensate for the drag on the driveline. Or maybe auto's are tuned to make more power to compensave for the increased load of lower gear ratios and the increased drag of the slush box....
ECU tells the ignitor what advance to run. i wonder if the advanced timing would also yield more HP (at a cost of NOx emissions).
I wonder if you plugged in an auto ECU to a 5sp car what the dyno results would be.

LOL...well, a civic with a D16Y5 has an EGR valve.
In most cases, it will depend on the emissions level of the vehicle and the methods the manufacturer chooses to achieve that goal.
