right/rear brake issue
what up all.. experiencing yet another brake prob!! this **** is just gettin out of control...but anyway, noticed on my ride home from work tonight...brakes started grinding in the right rear. cant be the pads since i just replaced them not too long ago (within 2 months) wtf is goin on??? i used anti-squeal so it's not just the brakes squealing...it sounds more like a rough grind then a squeal if that makes any f'n sense... and it doesnt only happen when im braking to stop. it seems as if it's sticking almost cuz after i get goin again i can hear it just slightly. any helpful suggestions to look for and try? no time this week but id like to get this resolved this coming weekend..this is really annoying.. pls help!
thanks
thanks
hmm, not exactly sure, but your piston in the brake caliper might be siezed(sp?). or there could be some pressure left over in that line keeping the piston pressed out.
or
you can try to grind down some of the material on the pad to see if that helps. not sure bout this tho..
or
there can be a "hardspot" on the brake mixed into the compund material which might be rubbing, but again, if this was the case, it'd have to result in the piston holding the pad to the rotar.
do you see any discoloration on the rotor, like from heat at all?

its dark and rainy out tonight so ill get back to you on that... you say the piston could be seized? stupid q..but im def not a tech..so enlighten me on how that could happen, and if so how to fix? thanks.. im just gettin really tired of these bs probs with this teg. motor still young, but too many bs lil probs that i can't stand. thanks for any advice
just by gunk build up.. i think
i remember seeing a brake thread a while back and they threw that idea out. and i dont exactly remember how to fix it.. im not even sure you can fix it. you'll just have to get a remanufactured caliper from an auto shop maybe. or a junkyard.
free bump for some more help..

look at the two bolts with the rubber boots over them. Take those two bolts off and the caliper should fall right off. Now those two bolts sit inside cylinders that should slide in and out with ease. They do tend to seize up which can cause the caliper to not float and constantly rub the pads against the rotor. Get those out and grease them up, problem solved. Also grab a 12-14 mm open end wrench and try to spin the piston clockwise by prying on the triangles (youll see what i mean). If it doesnt spin then your piston is seized.

thank you all for the info. much appreciated!
tyler, those cylinders you're referring to may just be the problem. i'm hoping the entire piston isn't seized. it was fine when i changed the rear pads a few months ago. however, i noticed that one of the brackets that holds the brake pads, had a slight issue with that cylinder thing you are talking about. one of em didnt slide smoothly and was pretty locked up. i figured i needed to replace the bracket but at the time didn't have the time to do..sure wish i wouldl've cuz i prob wouldnt be having this problem now, assuming that the entire piston isnt fucked..hopefully not. im going to take it into a shop to see if they can deal with it. i'd like to mess around with it myself but dont have the time. do you guys think that any reg shop that works on brakes could fix this **** or do i need to go to the dealership?

any brake shop should do fine. it's a common car with common parts. hell, I took my old mustang to Midas and they did a great job with my brakes. and we're talking about MIDAS...hehe.
ooh, try to find a place [lots of them do this] that gives FREE brake inspections! if you've been having brake problems, maybe this isn't the only thing going on [just the only thing you notice now]. better to make sure there aren't more issues and you can kill two birds with one stone.
