Raw in-kart footage from Road Atlanta
It's not the race but a practice session. Unfortunately the camera cut in and out in some of the technical parts of the track.

Whoa.
What speeds are you guys hitting on that long straight?
Was that a human missile at 1:48 ish?
Do you guys wear something equivalent to Motorcycle Leathers, or is it more like a RR driving suit?
Looks fast as hell... I wonder how it feels to fly off one without leathers?

Wow that's cool! I would be scared doing that lol at least around that track. I knew a friend (his name is Shane) who got himself a 125 cc shifter kart and he said he would come up there to check your guys out. He was not planning on running this time however. This was last weekend right?

Looks more like in the mid 1:30s to me. Just by this video, drafting seems like it's so important. You can hear your kart picking up a lot more revs in top gear as soon as you got behind someone.

Actually, we have karting approved driving suits. It's not nomex lined, but is abrasive resistant.
My best lap time throughout the weekend was a 1:42. The guys running up front were dipping into the 39's. When is warm out, we are about three seconds faster. I got a list goodies that I will be getting before Daytona that will make a huge difference for me.
Draft plays a huge role. I will be purchasing a lay-down seat before Daytona that should drop 2 seconds alone. The guys that are currently running a lay-down seat are about 7-8 mph faster on the straight-away.

What/who passes you at 1:50 into the video? You seem to be flat on it and the other kart just blows by...

If it had a big wing on it, then it was a SuperKart. It's powered by a 450cc 4 stroke dirt bike motor. Some of them are even powered by twin 250's. It's the 2 stroke Honda RS250 motor that comes straight off the bike. The motor alone is close to $20,000! I don't have that kind of money. They never seem to finish a race either.

My buddy was just telling me about that bike. Sounds pretty cool, but a bit pricey compared to most of the new bikes available now.
AJ, cool video, what camera did you use?
BTW, was it Rob, or Timmy that went by on the 4 stroke? Just wondering how good my motor build was.....
Chris R.
The other 4 stroker....

Haha...what's up Chris. I assume you made it home alright from the banquet.
I think that superkart that passed me at the end of the video was actually a twin 250. Couldn't really tell.
I used a lipstick camera that I got from http://www.chasecam.com. I then used my Hi8 camcorder to record the footage. I need to get some footage of an actual race so people can get an idea of how hectec the start is.
Later dude,
AJ
