Just bought...how to ship?
Just bought a Type R off eBay last night. I'd say I got a pretty good deal. It's in Tennessee and I'm in Washington. I got a quote from DAS off of eBay and it was $1094 with psyical damage insurance.
You guys know anywhere cheaper or better? Turn around time is estimated at 2 weeks.
O-and anyone know how I can get a hold of someone to fix my other honda-tech account? I lost my password and my email went in wrong so I can't retrieve it.
Thanks
Ryan

2 weeks is reasonable.
Make sure that your car will be in an enclosed trailor. Another thing to watch out is that the shipper takes picture of the front lip. That way you can make sure that the shipping company didn't damage the lip while loading & unloading the car.
Or, you can drive it back from TN -> WA. It's 3 days worth of driving. I've done from ATL -> Seattle and Seattle -> ATL. The drive is fun and it goes by really quick. You can take the route through the south part of the U.S. & drive it back up north along the Pacific coast. It really is a fun trip.
Lastly, ~$1,000 is definitely reasonable. But, shop around.

You buy that high mileage black one?
Why not just buy a plane ticket and drive it home. Shouldn't take more than 3 days. You get to enjoy the car and save a lot of loot.

That price and time-frame doesn't sound unreasonable, as long as it's an enclosed trailer, like Sean said.
Personally, I would rather buy a plane ticket to fly out and drive it home.

I'd drive it back too. Part of the fun in owning an ITR is the steps taken in obtaining it. A road trip is one of the first things next to an auto-x/track day you need to do.
I was thinking about flying it home. As fun as it would be I don't think it is very cost effective, at least for me to take the time off work. Plus the cheapest flight I found are between $280 and $400. Not bad but they have a layover and at least one leg is with an airline I never heard of. (SCARY)
What shippers have you guys used?

If you can't afford the time off work, this is what I would do then.

I would ship the R with http://www.Horselesscarriage.com
They are very professional and I have used them before. With all the R's getting stolen (some off shipping trucks
) this is the only company I would consider using for any car with emotional or monetary value, let alone a type-r.
