5+ quarts of oil????
In the manual it says my car should take 5 qts of oil. I already have 5 in it and it is still below the bottom dot. Any one else have this happen or do they really take more than 5 qts?

Did you pour any oil into the oil filter? My car is good for a little over 5 qts. Adding oil to get to the top dot isn't gonna hurt.

to you guys that change ur own oil...and especially to the ones that have their car lowered....do you guys use ur stock jack to do it? and which part of the car do u jack it up from?...is it worth just going to a shop to do it? sorry....i havent changed this cars oil b4 because i didnt think it was worth the effort to get under it and such...thanks for ur advice
5-6 quarts here - i was surprised by this too the first time i changed my oil after i got my car. just make sure you're pouring it in while you're on a level surface, and that you don't too far beyond the second dot - too much oil could be not good.
if this is your first time changing your oil on this car, you might want to monitor its level for the next couple of weeks.

My car is lowered, only got about 2.4 inches of ground clearance. Too low but I don't have the wrench for my Teins cuz it came with it but the owner didn't give me the wrench, plus my wheels are still stuck on cuz its held on by some 7 sided lugs, which also I don't have the tool for it.
Anyways, I gotta use a stock jack to lift one side up...that way I can fit a real jack in the middle under the engine bay. Is it worth changing your own oil? Well I learned my lesson...fawk ya. Jiffy Lube dented my hood when they pushed the hood down to close it. Also, my car never had oil leaks til I brought it there...I don't think they used a new washer...or they didn't tighten the drain bolt enough cuz thats where its leakin. I bought tools just so I can change my own oil in the future. Also make sure to use jack stands, safety first yo...specially in earth quake land Cali

i sorta realized i needed to keep pouring oil in my turboed lude..there are actual support weights right behind the front tires. its an extra piece of metal behind the front tires and in front of the rear tires if ur jacking up the back. p.s. kragens is having a sale where they offer jack stands and a 2 ton jack for 24.99 i highly suggest you guys go and get it. its really scary doing it on a single jack that came with ur car..if ur car is lowered..dont expect to live if ur car comes tumbling down on you. so please, invest in those jackstands and jack..you can jack it up from the frame of ur car. if u look under the front, you will see it. dont do it on some place where it'll break someone. ask a friend that knows how to do it.
imagine this in the newspaper "car fanatic gets crushed by own car"

According to the "Motors" spec guid at my work 5th gens take 5.1 qts of oil. If the crankcase is overfilled the oil could airrate (I can't spell sorry) and provide less lubrication. I have never seen a mistake in this spec guide and if there is a mistake they are supposed to send you an update (which they have not).
you should be using ramps to put up your front end. that way the oil drains towards the back of the pan; where the drain hole is.
if you can't fit up on ramps, use something, some sort of jack stands.
as for oil, i use 6 quarts now. more when the oil cooler goes in. and i run a K&N 1004 which is like 2x as big as the stock honda mini-me filter.

I put my car on a lift to change the oil
but if i had to do it with a jack then i would use my floor jack for lowered cars, then put it on the ramps.

I just did my car's first oil change since swapping the stock suspension out for Mugen's and I also had to go through that same dance of using one jack on the side to lift the car enough to fit a floor jack under the front.
Does anybody make ramps that work well with low-clearance cars?

get two 2x4s and put one in front of each wheel and drive up on them, that extra 2 inches should be enough to fit a non-stock jack either on the supports under the doors or to jack up by the oil pan(not rec but u could) or jack it up by the tow hooks in the front or the front crossmember
I'm not sure how much is a quart, but I pour in the whole 5L oil canister and it's full.
And for lowered cars, you can use the stock jack for that, only it'll be some pain. You just have to turn it sideways and spin it at the side, where the wheel is. Also it's a good idea to put 2x4 or some sort of a board under the front wheels to raise your car a bit. This way you should be able to jack it up the normal way.

I put around the recommended 5.1 quarts and generally add a tad in a few weeks when its gone down.
My car has about an inch of clearance, so I just drive it on a couple wood blocks and a standard jack fits under. Changing the oil is no big deal, and you wont believe how many people dont think of driving the car into a couple blocks.

You sure you got calculations right? If you have 1 inch off the ground, that means you can't put a block of wood thicker than 0.98 inches, which gives you roughly 2 inches..actually it's even less. Don't think 2- inches is enough
