why u wanna drive a fake Type R?

You will never fully convert your caR to a Type R. Besides cosmetic, motor, and suspension differences the R chassis is also some 30% more reinforced then any and all integra chassis! As for the seats....you'll never find them for $200 anywhere. Also....putting R stickers are your caR when its not an R sucks, plain an simple. I have an 85 dx as a beataR, but surely haven't contemplated putting CTR stickers on it! Do yourself a favor....stop with the conversion now!

What's there to discuss? You know what's funny though? I was just browsing on an SRT-4 message board a week ago (don't ask me why) and they made a remark about how every asian kid in California wanted to drive a Type-R because of the stickers. Wow, they were right on the money with that statement.

Who gives a crap, let him do whatever he wants and believe whatever he wants.
Stickers mean nothing anyway. I tore mine off as soon as I got the car. And woulda sold them used for only half the dealer price if this guy wanted them.
Stickers and Red "A's" don't make the car, the car makes the car and quite honestly the continual hyped mark on this car is what makes it still a target for every ricer wannabe theif out there who wants just the "wing" or "badges" or the "whole car" if you're not lucky.
You see how our cars are stripped for all it's parts and even all the "looks" crap like the by todays standards Non impressive interior panels and fake CF trim Ugh.
Yeah go for it.
Let this guy buy whatever stickers he wants and show off however he wants., Let him mock up a type R with just looks and stickers! What a GREAT & ORIGINAL idea!

I was wondering if you could confirm this 30% figure on the chassis being more rigid. With all bolt on sway bars, strut bars aside, is what I believe you mean the car is apparently 30% more rigid?
I'd like to know where you figured this number from as I plan on buying a shell, most likely not a Type R shell, and put the b18c5 in with suspension upgrades etc. Obviously, I would want to spend the extra money on the Type R shell if it is in fact 30% more rigid, though with the Type R LCA's and a good suspension, why couldn't a GSR be exactly like a Type R chassis? I am talking about chassis stiffness and rigidity, I am aware that there is a 5 lug difference and braking is better etc.
Just curious as obviously want the best platform to work with, and I had heard rumors about the Type R being more rigid, just no proof.
I just saw the above post, but most of those are just bolted on parts. I heard something about more welds and I figured that would have been the issue. I think 90% of the parts on the Type R could be convereted from that picture?

There are certain areas on the Type-R chassis that are reinforced. There's nothing you can do to replicate that.

It is, but it really depends on what you intend to use the car for.
I personally would most likely Not go out of my way or pay a higher amount for a Type R chassis if I was to buy one or rebuild a car. Mostly because if I did, I'd build a strictly track car or HC race car and when you build a race car you add a full cage that will more than compensate for the mere added 30% stiffness of the R's chassis.
For a street car you really probably wouldn't notice the difference.
For an autocross car you could compensate with a 4 pt rollbar and good strut tower bars and of course a well tuned suspension.
At this point in the game it's mostly hype. It's true, there is a difference but it has been hyped up too much to matter anymore.
Not that it isn't true but it's just not worth it if you're gonna pay more for just a shell.
And I love my car and just love how it handles on the track and just how easy it is to drive and how it actually makes me look like I know what I'm doin out there when I'm doin it.

Thanks for the reponse. I plan on driving it daily, but most likely with a bumpy ride. I just wanted to know if it was really going to be that much more significant.
Obviously it is more difficult to come across a Type R shell than say the other models simply because of rarity and of course Type R shells tend to be a little more stripped than usual which is a real pain in the *** when wanting to build a car.
