Default ITR #895 on Rage Dyno Day.

Rage Performance in Montclair had a little get together and Dynofest today. Food, drinks, and a free t-shirt for every customer who paid their $50 for 5 dyno passes. There were even video games for the kiddies Jason and crew put together a nice little event despite fairly cold weather (for Southern California). The shop is pretty damn clean and well organized; I wish the shop I work at was as clean
ITR #895 hit the rollers looking for the "magic" 200 whp that so many people shoot for. It had already put down 216 or so on Shawn Church's Dynapack, but 200 whp on a Dynojet was the goal for this motor. It made the 200-barely-202.6. Best torque was 142.9 on a run made after the engine was cooled down. Here is the chart of runs 4,5, and 6. Run #4 was made after the engine had been cooled down, and runs #5 & #6 were made in quick succession thereafter. Hot engine made more peak hp. Rage did no tuning-Shawn Church tuned the motor a couple of months ago with an AEM CAI. We made 9 passes total, three passes with each intake that I was testing. Thanks Jason for letting me do my little intake test
This chart is with the Prototype Racing velocity stack style intake:

I also ran the AEM CAI and the J's Racing intake. The J's did not fare too well, but the A/F was out of whack with that intake. Tuned it would have done better-I am not posting those graphs because it would be an unfair comparison.

Motor:
ITR block/crank. IB Spec Wiseco 81.5mm pistons with a 5cc dome. Stock ITR head with ITR outer valve springs and Portflow inners. Toda 'C' cams. Hytech header with stock ITR cat back. AEBS intake manifold, RPM 70-66mm throttle body, RC 440 cc injectors.Hondata.

If we were only worried about torque we would have bought a Mustang. Thanks for sharing though newbie.

Awsome numbers Todd, I cant wait to hit a dynojet to see how my *well* my motor does. My goal on a dyno jet is 190ish. Seeing we had similar peak numbers on Church's dyno, 190 peak for me would be do-able, however im afraid of what the mid-range will look like

to Todd, now lets go to the track!

*sigh* Typical M3 owner to come on a Honda board and have his first post be taking a shot at somebodies torque numbers and expect a civil response.

Newsflash bud it's called power to weight ratio. You need alot of Torque cause your car is heavy we don't need as much to make our cars move as fast.

Once again thanks for coming out BYEEE!!

Sorry to ruin your post B19coupe. I should have just ignored him but I guess I just let the fact that lately there have been alot of stupid posts or stupid replies to posts get to me.

Please delete the previous posts so this thread can get back on topic, if it's possible.

.....since the motor was tuned for aem cai, why not post what that graph looked like?

I'm really surprised that the spec c's are falling off up top so hard. What are your cam gears set at? No headwork, I assume?

*edit* just noticed that you're using stock itr catback? Dyno open header, dammit!

AEM CAI graphs:

Right, no headwork. A better exhaust would sure help the numbers too. Some day...

.....looks like your prototype racing intake is about the same as the aem cai.

Look at that resonance hump in both graphs (4500 and 5000rpm respectively)!

Wow not going to touch the TQ remark...........but b19coupe is a great guy and we would love to have a longer list of customers like him. He has been first to show up at the events and always has alot of respect for the shop and everyone there. We really work hard to keep the shop clean and when people notice it makes it worth it - africanqueen on H-T will really like to read this he works hard to keep the shop looking so good.

P.S. we have the next dyno day *free pass* for you Todd

Ok, your M3(assuming it's an E36) puts out, what, 200 lb/ft? That, technically, is more than what an ITR makes, but it is in no way considered "monstrous." If you want torque, go get an LS6. If the E36 pushes you into your seat, then the LS6 will blind-side tackle, mount, and pimp slap the hell out of you. That being said, E36's are one of my favorite cars.

Oh, and b19coupe, nice numbers.

A clean shop shows that the people who work there care. And if they care about the shop, chances are they will take more care of customer's cars. to everyone at Rage for a friendly and well kept shop. I might bring the Civic to the next Dyno Day with my "free pass" and put down some serious numbers

good numbers man. How do you like that hytech header? I am seriously considering buying one, after I get my car re-tuned. Then I will do slight tuning adjustments with the new header.

I should be around 210 whp before the hytech. How much more did you gain with it? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I personally love the Hytech header; the quality of the work is outstanding. There is no doubt in my mind that the header makes good power. I don't have a good header comparison because the motor was freshly rebuilt and running the Comptech 4-2-1 Race Header before installation of the Hytech piece. The Comptech header is arguably a copy of the Hytech design-the graph of the two headers was too close to call. Pic of the Comptech here:

I am down for that one Jason, and I bet many of the local ITR guys would also be down
