?'s about my z6 build-intake manifold and rings
ok things are going along slowly but smoothly so far, i posted up a few picks of my z6 block a while ago https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1042465
but now i have a few question's about the intake manifold set up ( don't tell me to seach i did)
car: 1994 civicex coupe
the engine block: d16z6
the cylinder head: d16z6
Intake manifold: d16y8
Throttle Body:b18b
question
1. what throttle cable bracket do i need for the y8 mani and the b18b tb?
2. the fuel rail has only 2 mounting points to it unlike the z6 which had 3
what fuel rail can i use?
3.where can i get those cool little vacuum caps for the ports i do not use
on the IM.
unrelated to intake question's
1. the a6 pistions i am using have a bout 100,xxx's miles on them the
engine ran great when it was put down, can i retain the rings. if not i will
replace them its just that its getting to crunch time and i am trying to
save about 160-170 for new rings
2. ?????? i am drawing a blank right now and can't thing of it
thanks in advance

i know you can get the vaccum caps at any pepboys in the "help section"
they have different sizes
as for the fuel rail you can most likely still use the y8 fuel rail, z6 and y8 are pretty much very similar when it comes to that...have to check on bracket though you got me there
Should probably take ur stock throttlebody and ship it to RC and get a tapper bore, im impressed with mine.. that way u can stay with the same bracket

as for the TB i run a Y8 IM with a B16 Tb and i fabricated my own bracket. i use the stock 92 throttle cable. make sure you block the little ports that run to the injector bosses on the Y8 intake manifold as you will get a vacuum leak if you dont. (i am assuming you already trimmed the top of the Y8 IM flange, so it mounts to the Z6 head) you should also be able to get a new set of rings from a local autoparts store for around $50. just go in and tell them you need rings for a 91 crx Si with a d16a6 motor. you can use the Z6 fuel rail but you need to drill new holes for it in order to mount it on the Y8 manifold. otherwise you can source a Y8 rail and use that. hope some of that helps you.
i was just curious if this gonna be just a plan rebuild or are you going for some kinda modified setup, what kinda compression are the a6's in a z6, like 10 somethin eh? have you thought about a cam?
you assemble a motor with those pistons yet???? what gas are you going to run and what are you using to tune it???? how long you expect the motor to last for???
i dont wanna thread jack but
i just picked up my 1.5 they are going to go into saturday, the compression is gonna be a slight bit over 12, actually 12.3:1, ill run it on 93 daily on the street and the programming will be done by custom uberdata maps and a little bit of dyno time, the motor will last as long as i want it to, im not worried about it, tuning will be the key though
also if anyone knowss where i can find some ITBs that would be nice

sounds good man. you should be able to do it on 93. 91 would be a different story.

shooting for 150 to the wheels, unless i get ITB's then ill shoot for 170, only thing that worrys me about ITB's is part throttle programming, ii havent seen it succesfuly done on a D yet as far as a Daily driver and side drafts are to expensive
yah i was kind of interested in doing an ITB setup, but opted to stick with a manifold. you are running a 1.5L block??? what head you going to run???? have a cam choice yet???
d16a6 non vtec head and delta 272 cam regrind vtec head will run the compression to a not streetable 13 somethin, as it is im gonna have to clay the motor with this cam, im not totally sure, but the cam will be the key to this combo
and yes im gonna run a 1.5 block y not?
also there are going to be VX rods in it

they are the same gasket i believe. i think they are both MLS. i know for sure the Y8 is. thats what i use in my sohcs

yes they are the same the z6 and y8, honda recently changed it to the same part #, and if anyone can find were there is a 2 layer head gasket thats really thin id like to see it, i hear about it but have never seen it
when people refer to the 2 layer gasket they are talking about taking out a layer from the Z6/Y8 gasket. i have never personally done this nor have a seen it done before. anybody have any links to somebody having success doing this???
