Default NO!! not another tire question!!

i was just wondering what the recommended tire pressure was for 215/40/17 tires. i thought it would be 32 or 35. but the tire place aired them up to 48. i looked at the tire and the maximum was 50. so i lowered it to 40. but i was wondering what everyone else was running.

I put 36 to 38 in my tires (Pirelli 7000SS same size). My max is 44psi. What tires do you have that has 50 max?

36 psi is too much. I keep my at 32, then drop to 20 psi when I really need some traction - i.e. straight race...

Curious why do you think 36 is too much? With low profile tires, I believe the air pressure is needed for protection against rim damage. Lower pressure would be fine for drag racing but for street driving I feel better with higher psi. I am very curious as to your reasoning though.

These guys are using quite low pressure. 36 is fine. You will want higher pressure on lower profile tires to protect your rim. The 32 psi range is more appropriate for stock tires, like 55 series tires.
