Default Trip to VIR raceway and dynoed my car.

Hey all,

Well, I JUST got back from VIR from the Fall Fling. What a BLAST!! Absolutely AWESOME track!! I recommend it to anyone who likes to track their car. It will be on my list to go to next year, too. It's the best track I've experienced to date. I've run on Beaver Run, Summit Point (numerous times) and now VIR. EXCELLENT time

I will post pics as soon as my friend gets them to me.

Anyway, the car handled and performed FLAWLESSLY!! I still have a slight hesitation issue but it did not surface while I was on the track. While I was there, they had a dyno. We got three runs on it for free. This weekend was the first time I took my car to 8K rpms on the tach. I will never do that again.

Anyway, they had a portable dyno that was said to be pretty accurate. The guy dynoing my car guessed I would put out 156whp. My best run was 179whp.

The motor has stock internals, Hondata IM gasket, AEM intake with a used K&N air filter that needs cleaning (I've had it for over 6 months and never cleaned it), Carsound highflow cat, and a Thermal Classic cat-back. Also to note, I am still using the spark plug wires that came with my JDM H22 swap, and the timing has not been confirmed if it is correct or not. I hope to be able to squeeze out a few more hp's after some tuning.

I don't have a graph of the dyno. They did not have a printer to print them off on. I just wanted to get a rough idea of what kind of power my car is producing, especially since it was for free. Free =GOOD

I plan to have the car's timing checked, replace the spark plugs, dist. cap and rotor, and the plugs. I will re-dyno it again to see.

Man, what a GREAT weekend. One to remember.......especially since I got my first speeding ticket in my 10 years of driving. And of all the places, it happened in Va. 77 in a 55. Oh well.

Andy,
Since I see that you now love VIR, I hope you'll come run with NASA @ VIR in February. It'll be a 3 day weekend with lots of track time & lots of races (sprints & an enduro) to watch

Doug, it was AWESOME!!! The Lude is such a fun car on the track. Especially when a guy in a new STI comes over to asked me what I've done to my car because he could not pass me in the turns, nor on the straights...then seeing his jaw drop when I told him intake, exhaust, and cat. It makes me love my Prelude even more...if that is possible.

Dude, I would LOVE to make it out. I am not sure if I can. If I can, I will let you know and meet up with you.

VIR has a BEAUTIFUL facility and a GREAT track design. I already want to go back. lol Summit point will never feel the same after this experience.

G&W hosted a GREAT event this weekend. They will see me back there next year.

I am not too bummed about the speeding ticket. I've been pretty luck up until this ticket. It's all part of driving. He caught me and a friend at 1:30 in the morning. We were just trying to get to VIR as soon as possible (about 4.5 hours away from my house...so you can imagine why i wanted to get there so soon). Oh well.

Hey you said that you have a JDM H22 engine... What is different in the JDM engine than in the US market one and how much more power doees it make?

Slightly better compression, probably helps in 5-8hp..

Corey,

VIR was just AWESOME!!! That was such an AWESOME experience. I will go back definitely next year.

I plan to do the Ferrari Event at Summit, Fall Fling at VIR, and one event a Mid Ohio. If I can do both, I will be a VERY happy camper.

No, no laptimes. I really didn't think about it since it was my first time there. I was just trying to learn the course. However, here is a little video clip of me and 2 friends. One is in the Cobra and the other is in the E46 M3. *right click..save as please.*

***EDIT: Video is down right now. I will post back when it works***

That's good numbers for your setup, third or fourth gear pull?

Was that when you went to 8k, or did you do that while racing?

8K was when I was dynoing the car. I didn't take the car past 7300 indicated on the tach while on the track.

It was a dyno of my car in 4th gear.

I still get jealous every time you post about your track fun, I really wish they had that out my way. The closest thing we got is a parking lot with cones......
