Default Want to buy a SIR hood for USDM car

Seems like no matter what web site I go to they don't have pictures or they have the pics from odd angles so you can't tell if it is SIR style or not.

Who sells a SIR hood to fit a USDM car?

What is the correct name of a carbon fiber hood shaped like that?

Does anyone make a metal hood?

i will help with this.

a SiR metal hood (OEM for a CRX SiR in Japan) will fit on a USDM front, but the "minor" modification is a complete JDM front end conversion.

Here is a pic of a USDM Metal Hood

**notice how the center of the hood dips DOWN.

Here is a pic of a JDM metal SiR hood

**the center of a SiR Hood dips UP - for clearance of the B16 that was factory in Japan, and in Japan, use the same size headlights as US, so that won't be a factor.

now the issue with an SiR hood is the headlight fitment. JDM SiR headlights are about 2" wider than USDM headlights, and the hood's cutouts are designed for each respecting headlights. So for proper fitment, you need the proper headlights to match the hood.

I believe they make a CF hood that has the center dip UP, but with the USDM headlights openings.

your option for a metal hood from Japan that would fit a USDM front with no modifications is a ZC hood (CRX Si in Japan)
pic:

**Center dips DOWN like USDM, but has a HUMP for DOHC (JDM CRX Si had a 1.6L DOHC ZC motor)

the link for passwordjdm.com carries both JDM hoods (in metal since its OEM Honda), but to get a SiR hood onto your car, would require either a complete front end conversion, of if you want to try it, SiR headlights, and then trim out bumper cover to fit the headlights (since the SiR headlights are wider, on a CRX the bumper cover was designed for the narrower USDM headlights)

Hope that sheds a little more light on the subject.

Someone show this man what he probably intended to see, which is the hood VIS makes for the USDM front end that the hood bulges up like the jdm hood but fits the us headlights.

wow.. and look at how bad that looks.. nothing fits right

i was answering his question. i gave the differences between the hoods and why they are different, and i said i believed there was a CF hood out there - i wasnt sure if it was VIS or not, and wasn't sure if it still existed. but he seemed more interested in metal hoods, which is what i was providing for him.

you h-t guys need to read more.

Have they been making the SiR Style C/F hoods for awhile now??? Are they popular anywhere? They look nice. I have heard Fiber Images makes them as well..

Wrong! Both companies make the hood. I know because i've ordered and sold them from each company for the USDM car. Its pretty much necessary for guys running gsr swaps for the extra clearance.

I was under the impression that the VIS hoods are for the JDM frontend.

I know for a fact that the fiberimages one is for a usdm.

****, get it right!

Both companies make the SiR style hood for both the JDM and USDM front end.
