If you havent, go ahead and replace the PCV valve (about $5 at any parts place)...that will help alot.

If you havent, go ahead and replace the spark plugs and wires (NGK OEM spec is perfectly fine for normal-compression, N/A engines)

Then start with ignition timing... you can borrow a gun from AutoZone...dont go crazy with too much advance.

Once that's right, now you can work on the idle more accurately. Remember to not plug the eacv back in till the car is off and the Hazard fuse is pulled.

Sea-foam into the vacuum hose and the gas tank is next...it should be getting pretty smooth, and maybe peppier by now.

If you're like me, and want the thing to feel like its not even on, you've got to start looking at replacing the EACV, new grounding wires, and somehow rejuvniating the alternator signal...I'm on a mission!

I dont have a good pic, but its VERY easy to find and replace. If you havent done this, then it most likely needs to be done. Sure you can clean it, but it costs about the same as a can of carb-cleaner to get a new one so what the heck...

FIRST, go to the parts store and buy a new PCV. Ask the parts guy to look up the right one for your specific model. Once you have it in your hand, you'll know exactly what you are looking for.

Replacing the PCV:

Warm the car up then turn it off. When the car is warm the rubber grommets and hoses are more pliant making it easier to work with, but that means you'll need to protect your hands from burns when you touch the intake manifold or head...so wear some gloves.

Approach the engine compartment from the driver's side by the hood prop.

Look behind the head, and underneath the injector rail (the smooth black plastic bar with wires). You'll see the PCV device poking up out of the block near the head with the little 90-degree bend pointing back toward the firewall. The 90-degree bung has a hose that connects it to the IM near the throttle body.

I cant remember if theres a metal crimp on the hose or not, but the PCV device itself can be removed by pulling it upwards, and wiggling it a little.

Be sure to install the new PCV with the hose bung facing the same direction, so the hose that connects it to the IM has no kinks.

Just gotta turn it on, pop the hood and look around.

The first place I would check is the battery and mounting brackets.

If its more of a klang-klang check the metal sheilding over the header, and under the car and along the exhaust.

You just gotta get your hand under there and pull upwards...give it a little wiggle, and it will pop out. There's just a rubber grommet that holds it in its hole. It helps if the car is warm, but dont get burned.

i'll try heating it up first.. then trying to pull it out, yea but imma make sure to wear gloves too, just for safety reasons.. thanks for the tip though

o yea, another O/T question.. do i really need to drain the coolant first before changing the thermostat? or can i change it w/o drainning the coolant to make things more easier

I dont know if those hoses going into the thermo can be effectively crimped or not. You could let the car get cold, then try to take one off and see if water starts coming out.

Man, I konw its hard to get ahold of in such a tight spot, will it even twist around a little? If you can get the top hose off, you could maybe get to it with some pliers from above.

Any parts store but read before you use this stuff, more threads are popping up about this stuff ruining parts, cats, 02 sensors. I posted not to long ago how to use water to clean the inside of the engine, it works better then seafoam and is safer.

hmmm im not sure, but it's coming from the valve cover, the mechanic said it's the rocker arms, but i dont trust his saying since that was the first time i bought my car to him. but when after starting the car.. there's a oming sound too. i don't know if it's from the dizzy or the starter o wel. i hope it's not the starter since i don't want to spend anymore on horsepowerless high priced parts.. lol

Just use water, there are two ways to go about this.

Take your intake off and spray water down the intake manifold, rev the engine if it starts to bog.

Or take the brake booster vacuum hose off and get a cup of water, suck water up and when you engine starts to bog, rev the engine up and take the water away.

Just do what i did...try it without any luck for about an hour. Then go in the house and drink 6-7 beers. Then go back out there and beat it with a hammer until it breaks . Then clean up all of the broken bits of plastic and insert the new one. Also...PB blaster is your friend
