Default New V710 Sizes

From http://kumhousa.com/News/News2004.asp#nov1d

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">FONTANA, CA … November 1, 2004… KUMHO Tire U.S.A. will add several sizes of its new ECSTA V710 and ASX tires in 2005.

The ECSTA V710, KUMHO’s new DOT race tire, has done very well in SCCA competition since its introduction earlier this year, winning dozens of road races and claiming 21 titles at the SCCA Solo National Championships. The tire is currently available in seven sizes, ranging from 205/50R15 to 315/25R18. Five new sizes of the V710 will become available in January--215/50R13, 195/55R14, 205/55R14, 225/50R14, and 225/50R15. Five more sizes in April--215/40R16, 225/50R16, 245/45R16, 245/35R18 and 285/30R18.

[edited out stuff about the ASX]

“Racers are clamoring for the V710, so we’ll be adding even more sizes in the next 18 months,” said Rick Brennan, brand manager for KUMHO Tire U.S.A. “Consumers like the ASX because it provides great performance in any kind of weather, and these new sizes will enable our dealers to offer the tire to an even broader segment of the market.”</TD></TR></TABLE>

Dag nabbit they got the 225/15 size wrong. Should be a 45 instead of a 50 series. I wonder how that will effect the gearing in the R. Guess I'll be running them kuz they are much cheaper than the Hooooozziers. They are quite sticky too.

I wonder what Hoosier will do now?

All right! Finally a 13" size! 215/50R13 to be available January 1st.

Keith, who has 2 Ecsta V700s in 215/50R13 that haven't been used, yet, that will probably not wear out for nearly 2 years...

Just curious, those who want the 225/45/15 tire do so for clearance issues, or the shorter gearing?

Both. I'd like to see it in a 45 or 40 series mostly fot gearing but the extra clearance would be nice too.

Christian

edit: after looking over the rest of the new sizes, I noticed that there's going to be a 215/40 16 that'll be 2/10th's shorter than the hypothetical 225/45 15... maybe that'd be a decent option?

The Ecsta V700 comes in both sizes. I wouldn't be surprised if the 710's eventually come in both.

true... I just wish that they'd get on with it and make/sell them instead of dragging out the 710 roll-out.

I smell the continuing effects of the early season's problems.

yeah, I guess after they got burned making sub-standard/seperating tires they're playing it safe... makes a-lot of business sense.
