Default Need to give 1999 accord a $2,000 makeover

In a few months, I will be getting a stock 1999 silver accord, and on principle I can not drive something that plain. I have about $2,000 I can invest into the car, and I would really like to make in look cool. I know many of you would suggest engine work and such, but I am a sucker for good looks, and hope to improve on those first. The only thing that I feel is a must, is a nice body kit, but I also like the look of a carbon fiber hood, and if there is anyway to squeeze it in on budget, a new paint job. I am interested in hearing what you guys think, if you can point me in the right direction, I would be very thankful. I can probably get some of the work done with a friends help, but I would most likely need to take the more complicated stuff to a professional.

Some 17" wheels and tires 1K
Springs and struts to lower the car - $350-400
Cat-Back Exhaust - $475
Have your buddy help you tint the windows - $125

$2k for a clean good looking Accord.

I like that idea. Dont just buy buy buy, shop around and you could get 2k worth of stuff for 1500 or less.

Also, are there any really nice body kits that anyone would reccomend, and how hard are they to install?

here is my opinion on the matter...

body kits in general: Most are too aggresive, and those that aren't are either just plain ugly or everyone who ever bought a body kit had the same damn one.

body kits with stock ride height and stock rims: (Is an explanation really needed?)

the hell with bodykits, carbon hoods, blah blah blah....there is no way to make your accord "stand out" from others.....everybody has already done it..... might as well make it a classy\clean accord that sets apart from the norm.....

if your accord came with alloy wheels then throw some decent tires on those 15s and then proceed with a full coilover setup or a strut\spring combo...also get a rear sway upgrade and a front upper strut bar. Proceed with a short ram intake and apex WS exhaust for throttle response and then go for some HIDs to light up the road nicely....

remember
Function > Form

I have to agree with him, IMO (In My Opinion) just get yourself some springs/coilovers (Eibach Sportlines would be a nice choice) with some aftermarket shocks (KYB, Tokico), maybe some rims or you can slap on a little better tires on your stock rims, axle back/full cat back exhaust (Greddy EVO, Thermal, Apexi WS), retrofitted HIDs, nice dark (not too dark) black tint or the lexus tint, and if you want you can DIY (Do It Yourself) take apart your headlights and take out the amber piece to make them clear or if you know how to do it right you can paint the housing to a black or gunmetal, and if your going to get a kit, for the love of God, please dont get some ricey *** fiberglass kit. Just get a simple lip kit if your going to get one.

These are just some suggestions that you could do to make some heads turn without making your whip all flashy with altezzas and uber gay body kits

dude...in my opinion...dont ever put a body kit on an accord...it's UGLY!! i've seen so many and none catch my eyes. Your best option is to coilovers and shocks like all of them said...tint your car....and most of all get HID....i have a friend that will sell you a brand new kit for cheap. SO NO BODY KITS or anything like that.

Ya i wouldnt go with getting a body kit either, to me they are just a waste of money and they jus make the car look worst. take your money buy springs, shocks, rims. also where are you located at?

Okay, I think you guys are right, the classy look would probably look allot nicer, and also be a bit cheaper. plus maybe then I can get it running a little better. My friend suggested a computer chip of some kind... I can't really remember exactly what but maybe one of you will know... If someone wouldn't mind too much, if you could give me a list of exactly what I would need to pull your guys suggestions off. and maybe some suggested good brads I would really appreciate it. By the way, I live in Phoenix Arizona, so if anyone there know of a good place, please let me know.

If u want to improve look with a clean look. Go for the OEM lip kit. You can also get good used items for a cheap price on ebay or forums. If you have a v6 then u can get a UNIchip from v6p.

the only exterior modification you need is a front mount intercooler...spend the remaining money on the rest of the turbo parts...stock is sometimes the best look if it's fast...

Just keep the outside simply and put all of your money into the engine. Thats basically what i am doing. I recently got it painted but just got it painted the stock color so it doesnt really stand out. Im sorry i dont kno any places in Arizona cuz i live in Florida.

i say, 18's, small drop, and no body kit. cause how many people do you see with a body kit that looks like they drug it down the road. its so hard to keep from scraping the paint off. BTW, coupe or sedan? and tint. oh and, id put some kick *** speakers in it. dont let them just see you coming down the road. let them feel you

Im all go and no show so you might not like my response. I say h22 or turbo kit. If not that i say a nice suspension and wheel combo.

Apparently you don't know it but many places on the net are located in Phoenix so you will be able to actually go there to see what you are buying. There is so many things you can do with the money you have. First of all if your paint is in good condition you have one of the best colors out there. If you want the paint to shine there is a Zaino rep that lives towards Gilbert/Chandler. He used to have a really nice miata but my friend told me he has a really nice Mini Cooper now. When it comes to looks details make a car classy.
HIDS = class since the normal "ricer" might not do it
Tint = class and it is not an option in Phoenix
Nice wheels with a nice (not too low) drop will look great. I'm not really a fan of chrome on wheels but for goodness sake get something that is nice.

There are other things you could do but I think we should know if your car is a coupe or sedan. IMO the 1999 sedan was not some of Honda's best work.
