i just wanted some people's opinions on hoodpins.

well, my hood lately doesnt really lock when i need it to. like lately, when i changed oil, i propped my hood up and it's fine. but when shutting it closed... i sometimes have a hard time keeping it down. it's like the lock doesnt really work.. ive sprayed a lil wd40 and it works. when i push the hood down, it really closes. but like, i dont wanna keep doing this over and over.

so i was wondering what is the best way to get this fixed. should i buy hoodpins or shall i just change the locking mechanism?

get a new latch... hood pins aren't really cool... unless they're really needed like on a carbon fiber hood to race... i ran them on my corrado only cause the cable broke and i hate doing hood cables and my corrado hood wasn't the best of them...

 

I have the same issue all of a sudden. It wont latch because theres a smaller spring that wont pull the hood cable wire back after you pull it from inside the cabin. you have to just push the metal lever that the smaller spring is attached to. push it towards the passanger side. wala it closes. but you have to do it each time you open the hood.

 

just adjust it, it will be fine or replace for a few bucks either way will work fine.

 

that sucks. haha. but i did try adjusting the latch. it wouldnt really close well... actually its a lil worse if i did. haha. but yeah.. the whole moving of the smaller spring... yeah.. that works best for me. although it is a bitch to keep moving that thing to close my hood.

btw. how much does a new latch go for anyway?

 

I have a similar problem, my latch for the hood is weird, whenever i open my hood, i have to push the cable in the latch over in order to put it into the right position to lock when i drop the hood to close it. I have tried to grease it up and use white grease and wd 40... nothin seems to work... .Any ideas?

 

I believe that its just a matter of that spring getting so weak it cant pull the cable back anymore. correct me if im wrong. maybe you could find a very similar spring at a hardware store.

 

probably could replace the spring.. ahh.. takes too much time though. haha. but yeah... still.. what's the retail on the hood latches? anyone?
