Default Radar Detector for bike???

first of all im sure people out there have done and do this. So i just want to know what you guys/girls think??? it wouldnt be hard, cut off the cig adapter and wire it in with a fuse to the bikes 12V system. I have never used one even in a car so are they worth it? will they save me from the law?

Yeah this has been done, but honestly, to me its almost like a waste of time, im either within 15 of the speedlimit and fine or so far over it that in the time it takes a detector to sound id have passed the cop.

Couldn't you get the jammer ( i think thats what it's called ) that wont let the radar detect your speed. Just hide the sensors or whatever they are on the bike? How would you hear a radar dectector?

I rode a buds bike with a V1 and I can see and hear it just fine. This is with a helmet and earplugs. I also remember him saying you can wire it so it would beep in your helemet insted of out side.

I modify the bracket so I could attach it with a nut/bolt to either the windscreen or somewhere in the fairing.

its funny because the whole jaming illegal thingy makes me wonder. Why not get one hide the sensor and repackage the electronics to look like the ECU wire it all up with the stock wiring (in wire looms) you get my point whos to say they would find out you had one. A year or so ago i was reading a car mag where they bought a kit for one and instaled it on a EVO 7. the sensor was hiden in the bumper, electronics under the dash and the pizo noise thingy inside the AC vents. just a thought but i mean whos going to take apart your bike to see if you have one or not? good point with the 15 mph or way over.

They see you speeding, get an error from the radar, pull you over. Either strip down your car/bike to find it or get it towed to a police station then get searched. And if they do find it you better have some lube

i saw one where you attach the wires to your helmet and a little red bulb will flash when it catches radar. I have no clue what is was called exactly or even if it was any good.

how much are th V1's for the bikes?

theres no difference. buy a standard v1 and hook up headphones pretty much. you would use a bracket that they make similar to a camera mount to mount it or suction cups on the windscreen (which i do not trust)

it's not hard to find the jammers...even if you hide the brain you still have to have the pieces that detect and tranmist the singals to jam.

if you can't see them, they wont be able to pick up the radar/laser anyways

i wish i could be more specific .. but some bike mag about 2 months ago did a test on both radar detectors and jammers ... and both worked like the should of and the cops that they had shooting em (with their radar guns) couldn't pick em up. I dont know which magazine or what detectors/jammers .. but they worked. For detectors, i know the V1 and the Passport 8500 (or 8100 or somethin) are 2 of the best out there.

Escort 8500 X50 (X50 will detect POP) will save ya bout $100.00 over the V1.

motorcycleradar.com is the place ta go - good combo set-up with detector, stem stand and screamer
