Default Christmas Present Advice

Ok i need some opinions. My girlfriend wants to buy me something for my car for x-mas, looking around $300, no more. I am getting ready to buy a hytech header and get about 4 hours worth of tuning.

Does anyone have an opinion of what she should/could get me. Doesn't necessarily have to be performance, could be looks to.

I was thinking maybe traction bars or motor mount inserts... Leaning more towards traction bars.

I heard some annoying stuff about ES inserts, vibrate alot, loosen bolts in engine bay and what not. I do have a problem sometimes with wheel hop so i was thinking traction bars are around $300 i believe.

Any other ideas for a gift she could by for my R?

how in the hell are we supposed to know your experience under the hood? anyway, if your girlfriend is willing to get you parts, it's cool, but she probably doesn't even know what the hell it is.

i'm 19 and spending $300 on a single chick alone during x-mas is pretty hefty.

good call, And my experience, I have done some work, no expert. I do however have friends who own their own speed shop, soo they will help me.

But yea we are spending about 300 on each other. I dunno I been with her for going on 3 years. I am in love.. makes u do stupid things lol.

But i do believe I could install the traction bars, i have seen it done multiple times at their shop.

My girl just ordered a Nitro Savage Monster truck for my xmas present. :D I'm a kid again!

I decided that I'm not gonna buy anything for the R. When its payed off in 2 years I'm gonna keep it stock and track the living **** out of it.

Cam gears are a good idea otherwise what the hell are you going to tune besides the A/F?

read my sig... have cam gears......have alot. Thats why its so hard deciding on a resonably priced gift. and tuning?? its only like the most important part for me right now. without tuning my car would be nothing compared to what it is now... and a/f?? I have hondata, yes that (a/f) would be tuned to.

My GF made the same offer. I told her to get me a Craftsman racing jack and Dewalt 18V drill.

I like buying car parts by myself. That's just me.

Hmm maybe some lightweight lugs and speakers?

EDIT, see Opie's suggestion: Nothin' says lovin' like a Milwaukee Sawz All! But really, tools are always the ****! My wife got me a big *** rolling toolbox last year. You can get a decent air compressor for $250.

traction bars is a good idea. It's so much more fun to drive when you can smoothly apply power instead of shaking your dash apart.

I think this might be the best for me because I went to the track last night with some buddies of mine with GSR's and ran twice for fun.... yea i drove worse than i ever have before. Lets leave it at that, but on the first launch, I wheel hopped horribly and the glove compartment flew open..

Yea, i sucked at driving that night, On my best time I ran a 2.0 60'.

But hey last night I actualy ran my best MPH on my slowest time ever I think it being 50 degrees out for that one, and having much less weight.

my vote is for dyno and tuning time. Take care of those detonation issues first.

yes i know but..........

I am saving to by a new header either hytech or custom. It will be around a 20 whp increase over what i have now. AND THEN I am gonna tune the car. So either way tuning is gonna be done. Sooo either she can get me traction bars or get a gift certificate for whatever at the shop (tuning i guess), but I already am going to have some other family people do that...

$1200 header.... 4 or 5 HPDE entries....

food for thought.

I really see what your saying, but at the same time, I can save $300 here and there to do that. But I am actually almost to my $1300 mark for a new header, and thats not touching the bank account, just been saving tips (I am a server at a restaurant) and been putting pay checks in the bank account to pay bills for now. Plus $500 is coming from a guy who backed into my car and put a 1" scratch on the front bumper. Its soo small I am just gonna take that money and put touch up paint on it.

See I want the header because my car is also out of tune as of late. With the new header and tuning I will be gaining about 30-40 whp... which would put me at about 230whp, all motor. That would be sick.

Sick for what? Friday night McDonald's parking lot bling offs?

More fun to drive the car. Mine has a completely stock engine, and its a blast.

No GF = more expendible income and more time for cars, mtn biking, friends, etc.
