need some help with my R6.. idle issues!!
Well my R6 is acting a lil wierd lately. When riding there are no problems but when the bike is fully warmed up and idling, the idle jumps up and down a lil bit.. it sits at around 1.4k rpm and hops up and down to around 1.7krpm back and forth. Any ideas on what the problem may be? It's a 2003 btw.

your exhaust should not be an issue. i've been running my bike on a full exhaust, no PC; it runs fine. at worst i am running with less power than i could be.

When the bike is warmming up it idles fine. Once it is fully warmed up the idle starts to bounce... I'd say a good 300rpms up and down up and down. While riding it doesn't have this problem at all. You sure it isn't the exhaust? I've heard from many that if you dont retune your bike after a mod that this could happen.

This thread's been bother'n me since the day it was posted so just right now, I went out to my bike, warmed it up, and this is what I saw.
My needle jumps around from 1100-1300 rpms. My last oil change was about 1500 miles ago. And its a 2004 R6.
If you feel that you're bike is idling out of spec, take it to the dealer and have them confirm it.
Here are some factors pertaining to "Incorrect Engine Idling Speed" according to my Yamaha Service Manual.
Incorrect valve clearance
Damaged valve train components
Clogged air filter element
Damaged or loose throttle body joint
Improperly synchronized throttle bodies
Improperly adjusted engine idling speed (throttle stop screw)
Improper throttle cable free play
Flooded throttle body
Faulty air induction system
Discharged battery
Faulty battery
Incorrect spark plug gap
Incorrect spark plug heat range
Fouled spark plug
Worn or damaged electrode
Worn or damaged insulator
Broken or shorted primary or secondary coils
Cracked or broken ignition coil
Faulty ECU
Faulty crankshaft position sensor
Faulty cylinder identification sensor
Don't guess... use that warranty.
