Civic value package
The year is almost over and the 2004 cars are cheaper.
I was wondering if I could lease a civic value package coupe (value package has no options and sohc motor) and race it in a stock class. Does anyone know the chasis number and engine code for this car and whether it can be competitive? (any sanctioning body.)
P.S. I have been doing research but coming up empty. I just want to race with a new car so all I have to do is strip the interior and bolt in a cage and go racing without worrying to much about reliability.

What stock class?
Showroom stock? Stock class autox? Stock-car nascar dirt oval styles?

A friend just bought a VP and it struck me that it's really right for racing - no electric windows, etc. - but it's a pretty huge performance step below current Showroom Stock C cars - the slowest SS class in SCCA.
SSC was populated with Pintos and the like in the '70s and the performance index has risen steadily over the last 30 years, as incrementally faster cars were added. (Nobody asks for a SLOWER car to be listed, so the mean creaps upward.) They were the cheapest of the cheap cars once but there's no place in club racing for the really inexpensive crap boxes of today.
It's kind of a bummer, I think, and partially a product of the myth that you need fast cars to have a good race. If I lived closer to the Canadian border, I would have done THIS...

If you want to race the late model Civic, the Honda Michelin Challenge is the place:

I doubt Honda Canada leases these cars, but some drivers in the series finance the cars...

That was what I was thinking. It should be all about the crapbox really, so the driver gets better. My Prelude isn't super powerful so it would be an ok track car but I don't want to screw it up. Thats why I'm thinking a crap box for my track car but it would be cool to have a brand new crap box to play with.
Oh well, maybe I should move to Canada

Value Package- I had wondered what a Civic VP was. One of the guys I worked with said he had a VP and I said he must be nts as I'd never heard of it. I guess "Value Package" is more poetic way of saying "Stripper".
best thing to do would be an already build ssc car like a neon ( can be had for DIRT cheap) or an ita car already built. it will be the cheapest way to get into w2w racing if thats what you really want to do and can afford.
