Street Tire pressure (and Solo II/dragstrip)???
I am interested in what tire pressure people are running for their street/autocrossing/drag setup. I am using Continentals Contisports 205/50VR-15 on OEM GSR rims at 36.5 psi front and 33 psi rear on street. Seems to work pretty good with my coilover setup. Anything over 37 psi in front and things get pretty slick in rain, anything less and understeer gets added. At the dragstrip, would lowering the front tires to 28 psi help? What about for autocrossing? BTW, the Contisports are in a completely different league than the OEM tires which well and truly stink. The contisports are a good all around daily driver tire.
for autox, try starting around 44F/42R. If the tires are rolling over, put a couple pounds in. If they're not rolling over at all, take a pound or two out on each run until they start to roll over, and when they do, put a little air back in
if you keep taking air out and the tires don't roll over, then you're probably not pushing the car hard enough.
good luck out there!
