Hit a HUGE pothole, now car shakes.
This really pisses me off. After work me and a buddy drove down the road to grab a quick bite to eat. Im in my car following behind him on his motorcycle. All the sudden BAM I feel the right front of my car sink down into the pothole. It didn't feel like the wheel even hit the bottom of the hole so I think the right front suspension hit the road instead. It hit so hard the bottom of my stereo dash kit pops out and so does a cd I had in the pocket. Even the little door to access to clock controls pops open.
So anyways I keep driving since the burger joint we were heading to was only a couple blocks away. It was on a residential road so I wasn't going over 35 or so but I could instantly feel a vibration in my steering wheel.
Afterwards, I head home on the interstate and of course the vibration gets worse the faster I go. My dash, cup holder, door panel, and cigarette lighter/ashtray all rattle as I go down the road and I can feel a pretty bad vibration in the steering wheel. The thing that sucks is that I have to go to work tommorrow and I don't know if I want to drive the car with it doing what its doing. Monday Im going to have to take it to the shop to have it checked out. Im probably going to call the city and see if they help me out a little bit since its partly their fault for leaving such a big hole in the road. Sorry but I had to vent to somebody.

and rim too, and if you don't find anything there, take the car to a mechanic and have it looked over by someone who knows what they are doing.

I would say yes, check the tire for a bulge, and also check for an missing weights, and also jack up the car, check out the ball joint and suspension for any obvious damage.
I didn't see any visible damage to the outside of the wheel. With it being dark and me not having a jack at my disposal I really cant do much else. I'll see if I can get a peek underneath in the morning when its light out then take it to a shop on Monday. I guess Id better find another way to work tommorrow.
i slammed into a pot hole also with my civic. the outside looked untouched. it was when i took the wheel off when i found out that the inside of the rim had the dent.
tire still held air, but i let it all out so it wouldnt get mis-shaped

You probably bent a rim, or if worse enough bent a control arm
A bad tire can also cause problems

the pothole i hit, well it wasnt really a pot hole, it was the side of the road that was broken off, i hit it probably at 40mph or so. worse part is that my alignment is a bit off. hopefully its not your control arm, or any susp piece
If the problem gets worse as you get faster, you know the problem has something to do with revolution or rotation of the wheel. That would rule out the control arm being the cause of the vibration.
It is more than likely your wheel thats bent. The tire will be damaged soon. It shouldnt have a bulge this early since you said it was just recently.
Get your wheel retrued. Get a new tire because its damaged now. Have you alignment checked ASAP. Swing it by my shop and I will tell you anything that is possibly damaged.

Checked the rim today and its bent. Tire looks good but like everyone has said it soon will start to show damage.
more than likely, depending on how hard you hit this pothole: bent wheel, wheel & tire are out of balance. but yes impact bruise is sometimes a result depending on the tires aspect ratio series i.e. 40. 50. 55 series--> small sidewalls. hope you bought tires from discount tire co. w/ certificates. they cover impact bruises. if not you're probably S.O.L. and will be buying a new tire. check your alignment too.

You should have given me the wheels before you had the chance to bend them
. I know a guy that can work miracles with wheels dude, give me a call tomorrow and we'll hook it up. He can take care of it in a day or so. Are you rockin a spare on the R now? Make sure you put it on the rear and have 2 oem wheels on the front.

Before you do that, you might want to go back to that spot and take some photos. It could help you in obtaining money from the city.
Cities DO sometimes provide compensation in such cases. But I'm sure that some cities are better than others about it. And some fix the road and/or deny that they were responsible...

The city should pay for it with proof of damage.
If the car shakes that violently I would put my money on the axle. Drive around on your spare and see if it still shakes.

Well, I took my rim to a place that is usually good at fixing rims (from what Ive been told) and they said it wasn't fixable. I'm rocking the spare on the rear right now. I ordered a new rim from Acura and should be here Monday. I didn't get raped too hard since the guy in parts is one of my regular customers at work.
Joey, I've just seen the post since the first time I posted so I guess the damage is done already but I appreciate the help.
Now, give me my center cap back.
lol
