Hi, im new to this site and i know about cars but not all about them. i was wondering because someone told me taht if i took my valve cover off to paint it, would i need to buy a new seal or somehting like that, so it does not leak.

 

Always a good idea to replace the gaskets when you remove the valve cover. The old one is probably brittle and won't seal correctly if you use it again. The gaskets are cheap so I would certainly replace it.

 

Its like $5 to replace that gasket dont be cheap and not do it otherwise you will be in a world of hurt later on....

 

ok thanx and i can buy the gasket at any auto store?
