I hate to say it, but I think I want to roll outta this car and get something else. I know the insurance is going to be pretty high, but maybe something like an RX-7 or another import. Hell, even a mustang if it isn't falling apart... I guess I'm "outgrowing" this car. It doesn't offer the kind of umph I'm looking for (or fun in corners). A Type-R would be cool, but if my car has already been keyed, I'd hate to think what would happen to an R.
-
Those who beat me today...
-Camaro Z28 (ok I had him for like 1 sec)
-late 80's Golf with widened axles (and what I think was nitrous)
-Nissan Maxima
-Infiniti Q45
What I beat...
-The golf, maxima and q45 off the line
-A Mercury Cougar (some kind of limited ed. or something).
FYI my car = '96 Integra RS, untuned, CAI (w/bypass), TanabeRM catback. It's not worth the money to add those things above...go turbo or bust!

An RS isn't easily going to go fast unless you add some form of forced induction.
Let's see... your '96 RS is probably worth about $7000? For $7000, your fast Japanese imports are '90+ MR2 Turbo, '90+ 300ZX, '88+ Supra Turbo...
Lots of powerful Infinitis you can get in this price range too, depending on the area you live in: Q45, J30, I30, M30. Not all that fast, but still faster than your RS and they're all super comfy.

Hey Merc.
Thanks for the post! It contains some very useful information...time to go hit the research books
I know it's "just" an RS, maybe my expectations are too high (it's a hand-me-down). It's got 111,000mi and since I'll be doing a few hours of commuting everyday starting really soon it's probably time to roll into something else. My budgeting has changed since I picked it up so something anywhere up to say $15,000 would be feasable.

Hey your's is sweet! Nice drop, clean lines...mine needs a little work. Especially since it has been keyed, there is this huge line that can't be taken away from the side of it. I realize that another car could be keyed too though, so it's something I'll have to live with (that and install shocking devices around the car).
It is fun to drive, it's just it doesn't plant my eyes in the back of my head like something with more torque would. A turbo would be awesome, and I'm not ruling that out, but insurance for the RS-T might be an issue (I'll have to check on that).

I forgot to add, the RS has one redeeming feature, and that is its weight. It weighs less than any of the other Integras by a healthy margin.

Sorry to say but the RS option sucks! In the long run, you can modified it into an R if you have the right funds! Turbo/NOS/N'L, you can go so many routes, its take much imagination!

Heh
It's really a back to basics car. You get the basics, save a ton of money, and don't feel bad about throwing away the parts you (paid extra for and) won't be needing anyways after modifications. (seats, painted trim, rims, etc.)

Hey Ralph, email replied to
I guess the keying thing isn't so much a science. Any car goes...
Car update:
I haven't given up on the Integra just yet! We'll see what happens within the next few months...
