thoughts on an 87 rex si?
found one in boston and im 2 hours away. the lady wants $1200. i was like "thats not was i was planning on paying and i was really wanting an 89-91 anyway". just talked to her , havent seen it. she says it has"some" rust above the rear passenger wheel well. so what do you guys think. i wanted to do a swap, then n20 maybe. that setup would be a b16a1 sir2 swap then zex kit. or the other option would be, if this is possible on the 87, would be to put a z6 head on the block(not sure if the 87 has a d16a6 or not so dont **** on me) then put my greddy turbo kit i have on my 97 ex on that. of course i would have to get different pipping i'm sure. so thoughts?
has EW3, not D16. they are nice. watch out for the rear pan-hard bar/trailing arm mounts. those are known to rust through. and the seatbelt mounts, too.

how exactly do i check them out, i know the trailing arem, but whats the other one? i'm not a mechanic, but i can do alot on the cars just dont know specifics. thanks
the only way you should pay 1200 for an 87 crx is if it is an si in mint condition with very very low milage on it. if you are looking for a project car, don't waste your money. you can find the same crx with lots of miles on it for a couple hundred bucks. if you are getting rid of the engine anyway, get an hf. those are lighter and make for a better track car - any kind of track. trust me on this one, 1200 is too much. my brother gets them up here in NH for 50 or 100 bucks and they are in pretty good shape - nothing that can't be fixed.
don't forget, though, those year HF's are carbed. Si is the way to go for cheapness and ease of swap. with the seatbelt mounts, just yank on the belt real hard, they should lock like normal, hopefully not breaking off, but if it's rusted, they may..
