Why do people sell their turbo CRXs just months (or days) after building it?
Personally, I think the people that sell them after just setting up the turbo are idiots for making themselves go broke without money to enjoy their turbo setup. Regardless, I am curious to know why people immediately want to sell their Turbo Charged CRXs. Which comes to another question about the hardcore crx's. The ones that go up against Vettes or Vipers. Where are all of those people? It seems as though everyone builds a mid 13's or higher CRX. No one here has a 12 or 11 sec CRX that they haven't sold yet. What's up people?
I don't know from personal experience, but it seems like find their enjoyment in the "chase" of building up a project more than actually driving it around.

I know what you're saying. I have quite a few friends that finish their "project car" and just want another project car 4 months later.

Oh I would DEFINATELY enjoy the chase, but also the passing of several exotic cars too. I guess once you're done with what you were trying to do, you just get bored? I mean damn, there's still interior work to be done. Restoration? I just can't have only a fast motor and the car looks used and worn out.

I still have my CRX, and it's not that fast. I actually like to drive my other slower CRX more than the B18C5 powered one. For me it's about stress, or the lack of it when I drive.
With the fast CRX I get on races at almost every stop light. People just want to test you to see if your car is really as fast as it seems to be. It gets waaay old, and that car now spends weeks at a time sitting in the garage collecting dust.
I think it's time I sell it.

I am right here. I still have my 12 sec CRX. Well its no seconds right now.
Bryson still has his. I hope to have videos in a theatre near you, soon.
The real deal is that most people do not understand what they are getting into. It takes a lot of money if you wwant to go fast and not break it. Its very stressful as well. Cruise to Forced Induction, see all the problems people have. You got to be mentally ready for your pride and joy to break any time.

Yea I've gone through 4 or so turbo set ups only to build another. I dont know wtf it is, probably just me being indecisive. But I always think "I wish I would of done this" so I sell it all and start all over. I dont know. It's probably also "I dont want this to get stolen/busted by the cops/blow up on my 5 hour trip" but usually that **** never happens, it's all in the head
I've got my b16a Crx HF....and if i had the turbo i want...i would drive it all day....BOV clearing....it's music to my ears.....But i think i can understand why someone who has a 11 sec car would just up and dismantle it and part it out. It's really hard to have all that power and not just scream by everyone going less then 88mph or mach 3. <---two favorite speeds.
My gf already thinks it sounds too loud....i would hate to hear her bitch about "babe your turbo is too noisy i can't hear the music." "well then i will need to go and wire up a better sound system.....

smog, speeding tickets and/or getting harassed by highway patrol/cops/thieves/vandals could be other factors. Or perhaps, lost interest and wanted to shift money towards new, bigger and better things.
bottom line is until your in that situation to make a choice to keep it or not or forced to be in that position dont knock it....
I fi nished my project. Put 1700KM on it.
Now i want to start another project. a 92 hatch with a H22.
I want to keep mine, but most sell to fund the next project.

or maybe the fact that they know they broke something and soon the whole engines gonna go so they get rid of it asap. My rex is up on jack stands and the empty block is sittin in my car and a broken hand that can't rebuild it yet

hahaha yea guy I knew had a 13 sec CRX that he wanted to get rid of... never knew why he wanted to sell so DAMN bad until he took me for a ride, and 1. we hit 105 within 15 seconds passing the WinCo, by far the fastest car I have ever ridden in, 2. the NEW CRXSI stock motor he had was smoking worse than a Jerry Garcia convention (you have NO idea) and 3. he said he was pushing 14 PSI on stock internals. After hearing 3, I said hell no, and he predictably blew the thing sky high a week later. He was known for building swaps with massive boost, just so he could go to track and record time, and he kicked the **** out of a viper with a ZC turbo 14 PSI in a hatch.
People just like building them, racing them, blowing them up, repeat. The results are incredible though.

each project gets better. i sell one to finance the next. if you arent learning more with every build, then youre doing something wrong. if you are learning more, you better be trying to apply it, or else your time has been wasted learning that which has no purpose to you other than to be forgotten. thats shameful.

For some people, the actual build up, sourcing the parts, putting in the labor and time, and creating something nice out of a stock car is what motivates them. Once they finish, they need another project to put their time and energy into. I've know quite a few people like this.

a week after i installed my turbo kit , i seriously thought about selling it, i guess for me the whole thing was i was paranoid as **** that it would blow up, or get stolen and i would pretty much lose everything, up to this point nothing has changed im still paranoid, and im still afraid its going to get stolen, i guess more than anything i thought it would be alot faster than it is, and now that its all installed im looking at the road ahead how expensive its going to be to keep going, most people think turbo kits are expensive and all that, turbo kit is probably the cheapest part of a forced induction car!
I guess I should throw in my two cents;
I personally enjoy the building of a project. Once it's done, other projects tend to pop into my mind.
I've built cars that I didn't want to drive due to worrying about them getting stolen and such. (if you had a CRX glasstop, would you take it to go see a movie?)
Then there is the possibliity that the individual didn't think about the "legal" aspects! Although there are a couple mild turbo kits out there that are CARB legal, it's questionable if you could get them through the sniffer part of a smog check. I asked at the local Referee station and he said that he had NEVER seen one pass the sniffer in legal configuration!! If there is somebody out there (in California) with a turbo installation running more than 5 psi and still passes a referee check, I'd like to hear about it.
Another possibility is that the individual didn't figure the cost to do the job correctly. (boy, am I guilty of this!!) After sinking way more money into the car than they planned, they just have a time bomb waiting to blow. How many of us can afford to blow an engine and just pass it off as a "bad day at the track"?
