gsr head+type r block=??
well, correct me if i'm wrong, but all the internals should work.......
MUCH more common is a itr head on a gsr block....
Let someone w/ more knowledge than me answer this, I'm still not sure what all you'd be gaining by swapping an itr block on........ i mean, it has the same displacement and everything

It depends upon your definition of "a good idea". You'll see minimal gains over a standard GS-R motor, simply because of the higher compression. Other than that, there won't be any real advantage to this setup. And no, you would not need different cam gears.
not much gains huh. Well how about a B20 block with a b16 head...i heard it was a good idea but it was a very delicate engine. Whats your opinion?
woops completely misread that....
it wouldnt even be worth it...toss out that idea and just get a regular gsr block

The larger displacement of the B20 is the major draw with this setup. If you already have a GS-R motor and want a 2.0L, I'd have your existing block sleeved and bored. From your questions, it doesn't sound as if you've given a great deal of thought to your setup. Decide on your goals for the motor, and then plan your build accordingly.
