Would you buy a bike with a huge fuel leak?
I found a 2001 Busa in a local Repo auction. It will probably go for cheap and I'm considering buying it. However, it has a major gas leak. You pour gas in, and it drains right out. I picked up the tank, and it seemed to be leaking from around the seal. Also, it has a couple scratches - nothing bad and nothing serious - probably a tip over. Obviously, I don't know if the thing starts because I didn't want to try to start it up with gasoline everywhere. The auction is Saturday morning, and I'm wondering if you guys think it would be worth it to buy it, and what would you pay for a leaking Busa that probably, but might not run?
Thanks for any input. - Josh

01 Busa in tipped over condition and a fuel leak - a deal would be $2500-3000.00 (that's sight unseen of course - there are too many variable to consider).
A replacement fuel pump will run ya $300+ unless you can find a good used one.
Good condition running 01 Busa's with 20k miles or less will go for around $5500-7k here in SoCal.
I'd wonder what was in the fuel tank and also in the engine at this point - could be a big paperweight but if the title is clear then you could prolly sell the frame for $1500 and the other parts would likely sell quickly on Ebay.

unlikly (sp?) to be a paperweight... i would say around 2500 would be fair unridden and unstarted.... you would be able to re-coop your cash with that amout.... and if you can get it started and running with no leaks, you saved about 3+g's
