Default running 10's on OEM block on gas...

I was curious if anyone has ever attempted or has run 10s with an OEM block, OEM CTR pistons, OEM rods, OEM crank? This is one our winter projectsm me and Dave have put a few b18a/ctr piston bottom ends together and we think we can make enough power to run 10's in my car 1610 with driver..I ran my first 10sec pass making only 243hp and 156torque... so our goal is to make 240hp and 150lbs of torque with the CTR motors.. It may be kind of a far fetch project but we've made 225 on pr3 piston here at the shop and think that 240 with a ctr piston is achievable. We are also going to run this motor with a ATS gear box with the long first short 3rd,4th,and 5th gear on 24 1/2 tires... Tell me what you guys think ill fill you guys in on this project over the Christmas.. we are hoping to have this motor tuned and running by january. Ohh and this motor is going to be used as testing/practice motor too..So don't think im going backwards or anything.

well if the car is 1610, its certainly possible.

have a good flowing head, with intake manifold, and maybe a hytech header

if its geared for 10's then it should be do-able.

i would have the rods shot peened and maybe get the pistons coated. you going to run bigger rod bolts, or oem?

I say it's doable if everything falls in place. I've seen mid 12's in a 1,900lb hatch with 210whp running a stock ITR tranny with slicks at almost 3,000ft elevation.

A near perfect run and flawless engine build with all the right conditions.

If anyone can do it you guys are among the few. Forced induction alone is impressive on oem blocks/pistons/rods. Next you should shoot for a 10 second all motor street car!! I give it a year til' they're around thanks to the K series technology!

I didn't know you could get 10's out of 243whp. Crazy.

What is the final compression ratio you are shooting for with you piston/head combo?

So you are going to be using a B16B block? Sorry, just a little confused.

Thanks

no we are going to CTR pistons in LS block with LS crank.. so it will be a 1820 cc with 13/1 compression on a speed pro with a **** load of head work intake manifold and exhuast "my specialty" work.
