who here installed a turbo or sc by themselves?
by themselves i mean in your own garage and/or with someone else for help.
i just want to see how many people actually did it without paying someone else to do it.
obviously you need experience but how hard was it?
btw...i give you all a lot of credit for doing it yourself

It shouldn't be too difficult if you do your homework...but if its your first tim, you should get a buddy to help ya out...2 heads are better than one
I did the install with the help of my brother. We should be installing another kit on his car soon. He has a GSR though.

I've installed both my SC and Turbo in my garage without any help form people who have done previous installs. It really isn't all that hard.
I've done 3 turbo installs. Greddy, Drag, and a custom one. And also done a JR Supercharger install on my car when it was supercharged back in the days.
Had a friend help me... it took us a couple weeks, but he was more **** than me and wanted things done right.. glad he made me get/do certain things... it was worth the time and attention to the little things.. made life easier..
I never even changed my own oil before me and a friend installed a turbo kit on my 96 civic (R.I.P) get a factory manual if there is any electrical and it shouldn't take more than a day. The only problem I had was getting the oil pan welded for the oil drain line.
For those of you that did it fo the first time without any previous knowledge other than research...how long did it take you? In other words, how long would it take for a person(me) with only researched gathered on the install and no prior hands on experience, but with basic engine knowledge and help from a few friends with the same knowledge?

Definitly give yourself more than a day. I did all the work by myself and never did it before and it took about 3-4 days of work. This includes time running to the store and backtracking from messing up. If you can, get someone else to help you. A second set of hand and eyes are invaluable.
I figure that the hardest part will be the fuel set-up or positioning the intercooler so the pipes will fit. I have heard many on H-t that say that the pipes don't always match up on the Drag and Fmax kits, I guess I will see. Did any of you have any trouble with the oil feed and sending line(line, welding bung on oil pan,etc..). I'm not really sure what to expect on that one.
Maxim: OT, but the fmax pipes do fit. there was a mix up, but everything is settled know. The fmax kit really is a fully bolt on kit.
I put my turbo in my car in 1.5 hours while drinking beer and talking **** about cars and stuff.....Had help from 1 friend.....Only previous experience I had was taking the turbo kit off.
I think a lot of people are capable of doing it themselves. However, with the help from someone that's done it before, you can sometimes learn the tricks on how to do something better than what the basic install calls for. I'd rather have someone show me and work with me the first time around, then go back and redo some of the install a better way for a second time. For example, the oil return lines.
I did, took me about 12 hours. That includes the time having to drive all the way to the parts department and back.
Be prepared to do that. If it ever gets frustrating, just walk away and come back later. You don't want to make a mistake that will cost you a lot of money. I have learned from experience
good luck,

basically, if you can install headers and a know how to figure out some electrical wiring, its not that bad.
