Default for the east coast drag racers...........IMSTARRACING

there is a new drag racing circuit on the east coast. its called IMSTARRACING. it will consist of mostly street classes and one "outlaw" class. there will be 5 races in 2002. 2 at atco(philly) and 3 at mir(maryland). payouts will be 1000 to the winner and there will be 16 car fields. there will also be a points system carrying over at each race. whoever has the most points at the end of the season in each class will win more money. in 2003, there will be 8 races possibly extending to either vir(virginia) or rockingham(north carolina). this will be a great opportunity for the "street" racer and the guys who aren't sponsored.

there will be records kept in each classes and rules similiar to the old nira rules. check out http://www.imstarracing.com/ for more info. the site will be updated regularly.

with the nira street events being bought out by nhra, we still don't know if they will cater to us "street cars". idrc already has no real street classes. battle and imstarracing are the only ones so far to cater to us. we'll see soon enough with the nhra.

Well then, let's try to get one started then...how the heck will we start though*shrugs*....I'm serious about this BTW...The only one I know of is THe Battle as Joliet and Drag Wars at Great Lakes...That's only 2 events per year. We need more serious racing...I'm sick and tired of this bracket and time trials ****...I need to start winning money, not trophys

Now thats what I'm talkin about you have the same mentality about this as I do,
I am tired of test and tune nights and that bullshit also 2 events in one year just doesn't cut it for me anymore thats why I think i'm gona buy be a suv and a trailer and start towin my car around the U.S.

But you do have a good point, how do you organize these types of events...??

That sounds great for us street classes. I have to correct you......Atco is not in Philly (close to), but it's in Jersey.

Englishtown also has these events called Import Survival Series. This event has been around for the past 4 years. It utilizes street cars, and the last one had a separate pro fwd, awd class.
Another advantage we have for the classes here in Jersey (Import Survival Series), is that they separate the FWD and AWD cars. Good thing they do that at this event because we have so many fast low 11sec or faster AWD cars.

The last NIRA event, the semifinalist consisted of three DSM and me (I only got there because Jeff Hill red lit).

So actually there are alot of street class event in the east coast. Just as a note, these events are held on Sat. and the IMSTARRACING is on Sun. Im sure the hard core racers will go to both.

Like I said again and again, this is going to be one crazy of a year for the Street Class Honda in the North East. I say this because of how many fast guys are on this board and off this board just in my area. Then we have all the VA, MD, DC, PA, NY causing some craziness.

Ammm....... Slow_ass_4dr I think we need a sponsor or something to that extent or buy out the track for one day?

But which track?
What day?
What about vendors?
We could call some midwest businesses and see if the would like to have a stand that day at the track and then we could get some money from that?????

I would like to do this or try and organize something like this.....

FAWK YEA!
Woa I didnt know about this..
Well atleast this gives me a reason to push the assembly of my motor and suspension.. There should be some sick fast cars in attendance from my area. This should be fun.
Thanks for the heads up Jinx. Is it a pro tree or sportsman?

yeah, yeah....jersey. well jerseys big, and saying philly lets people(outside of our area)now where it is on the map.

etown has had there events for 4/5 years now. atco does it and so does mir. the difference now is......you get more loot to win......you earn points to win even more loot at the end of the season......and you go to different tracks, all in the surrounding area. plus, the classes will be even stricter....no fuel cells, hondas get 2 power adders(turbo/nos) and awd only gets 1....and they don't get slicks. it is very similiar to the survival series....just a little more perks. now you guys in jersey will wanna run at etown and mir(virginia).

i ran jeff hill at etown in may. he went 10.80 to my 11.60. not much of a race. nice car though.

there will be many 10 second street hondas next year.

Let's try Route 66 in Joliet...Some of the best import racers say that that's the place to set records(jojo said that)... Joliet is still about 7 hours away from me though. I'll talk to some of these shops up here. I'm gonna try calling Darksol, Driver's Image, APG, and HRC, I'll even call up Brent Rau(he's in MN too)....Maybe somebody can call lieberman also, see how they got started....I'll try to get back with you guys...

I'll be competing next season at the IMSTAR events. Hopefully I will be in the 11 sec range. Might even be at the season finale in ATCO if I finish my new motor.
IMSTAR is cool like what Karl says because it lets us street guys have a go at making some decent cash. I cant wait to contend!

imstar was supposed to be geared towards the street/everyday racer. and thats exactly the way it has turned out. jason miller runs a top notch organization on a tight budget with very little sponsorship. 1000 bucks to win in a street class?? ****** a. next year look forward to 7 races and guarentee'd payouts. bigger sponsors and possibly contingencies. there will also be magazine coverage as well. hope to see more racers next year!!!
