900 bucks to put in a clutch wow I need to move to allentown pa, we dont charge that much at my honda dealership. But also if you think the engine has to be pulled to install a clutch, are you sure your capable of installing it yourself? If you do this yourself make sure to keep the shift cables routed correctly, and also to pull the vss out of the trans. Just two things I have seen alot when I get those can you look at my car I just put my clutch in. goodluck

I didnt say you were not capable of pulling the engine, I said if you think the engine has to be pulled to install a clutch should u be doing it? How light are you going with the flywheel? I dont recommend those 8# ones just my 2cents

I did the clutch an flywheel myself, on my SH. ...and I am seriously considering dropping the engine out of the car the next time I do. That transmission was so much of a pain in the *** to get out and back into the car.

Why? How is it so hard? It is much more time consuming to pull the motor just to do a clutch change.

I had a lift, and a manual. The part that made it so difficult was the transmission is wider than the hole you have to drop it out of. The tight space was difficult to work in, and my arms started getting pretty tired after the first couple of tries to get it back in.

Granted it you have to angle it taking it out and putting it back in but it is not that hard to where you have to pull the motor. I have done numerous honda clutch changes, on a lude I have the tranny pulled in 30 min, the whole process takes me 1hr 10 min on a lift, 5 min extra for an SH. Even if you do not have a lift 45 min and the tranny is dropped. This job is a 3 on a scale of 1-10, you are making it alot harder by pulling the whole motor.
To the orginal poster, Do you have an SH or a base? $900.00 is alot for a base if that is what you have.

I have a h22 in an accord and i need to change the brand new clutch (see my other thread) but because its an accord there isnt room to drop just the tranny so i have to pull the whole motor.

Umm last time I checked accords and prelude transmissions were the same size if not very close why would there be less room because its in an accord? Do the mounts push the swap over towards the right side of the car?

Just checked my local dealer and its 987 for parts and labor not including the flywheel. If it needs to be replaced also its another 270.

Sorry for going down a rathole with this post but I had a question for md23vtec.

I was doing a valve adjustment on my H22 and after about 2 hours(that included a half hour break for my aching back), I started to put the valve cover back on.

Anyway to get to the point, as I was tightening the nut caps for the valve cover I realized that one of them would not tighten. So I take the cap out and sure enough the thread was f**d up. Anyway, I'm still able to get the nut cap on and keep it somewhat tight but I'd be more comfortable with replacing the valve cover stud and cap nut with new one's and was wondering if you'd be able to help provide the oem part number for those.

Thanks In Advance,

Darwin
