Default Non-Vtec head on Vtec block!?

Hey all,
I need a little help.
I got some stuff laying around and I was wondering if it is possible to put a non-Vtec head onto a Vtec block? For a d-series....head is D16Y7 and block is D16Y8. What would I need to accomplish this? Dont start flaming, cause its just stuff I have laying around.

yeah you just need to put a oil jet in the block. Looks kinda like a little valve between cyl. 2-3.

I just finished swapping in a D15B7 w/ a Y7 head last week. What are you putting this into?

I'm just trying to make a working engine out of parts I have laying around. I could just throw the D16Y7 head onto my 89 Civic LX with the stock D15B2.
