Honda Challenge Website ?????
We have a number of Honda Challenge websites from various regions and coasts. None are really updated much nor designed or developed to the extent they could be.
Honda Challenge is growing in popularity and I have many younger kids (17-25 yr olds) asking me about the series and where they can find info. Some see my website, others hear about from various other sources.
I have said this before to the East Coast gang, our home page is the front door to sponsors and future particpants. I think we can do a much better job of promoting Honda Challenge.
I think both the East and the West coast offer really good material for a "National" site.
What do you all think about merging both the East and West Coast sites into one and showcasing the series.
Right now neither website has much info and neither is updated much.
Is this is a waste of time or should we pursue this?
Regards,
Jon

I was thinking the same thing. We have enough material to make a kick *** HC website, someone needs to just take charge and make it happen. We do need to do this.

Great idea Jon!
Your exactly right about "our home page is the front door to sponsors and future particpants".
I doubt anyone would want to spend all the time it would take to redo it in a much better fashion for free and I doubt that they would get paid for it, so, rock and a hard place there!
I like your idea though. That is the way it needs to go!

Yea the midwest site hasn't been updated since June, including race results and points. I guess we don't have a director anymore so who knows when that will happen. I'm trying to provide my sponsor with points info for contingencies and its kind of hard when I can't show him the official results.
Trending Topics
Not only does the MWHC not have a technical director anymore, who at the time was responsible for updating the points website, no one can get in touch with our series director. I have talked with several participants who were at the August HC "National" and they still haven't received trophies yet. That was over 3 months ago! Something needs to be done with MWHC, IMHO, or we all might as well go race ECHC.
In regards to an all inclusive HC website, I believe it would be great, as long as the particular regions do their part and get results submitted so it can be updated on a regular basis.
to Jon for aonther great idea.

Dont forget we need to add a section with all driver and car info. So they will know who those people are that risk life for a 3 dolar trophy.Because we enjoy it as much as ***.

that's not good to hear..
but yeah, if the EC and WC would go together, why not put all divisions on the site? REALLY promote the series in a unified manner..
If whoever ends up doing this, I could lend my services to some extent..

having a kick *** web site would help all HC racers and NASA. i'd be willing to donate my server to host the website (or just anyone's vids) if there's a need. i have 1000gb transfer quota a month so it's plenty of bw to burn.

Yup, the HC web sites all suck. I can say this becuase I am the guy who did the 2002-2003 ECHC site and the current SEHC site. Daniel has really done a great job with the production value of the national site and the current ECHC site. Much more eye candy then the one I made. The problem is still content. Back in 2002 before you were with us, I was not racing and had time to update the site Monday after the race weekend. We had pics and write ups from each event and also featred drivers every month. Getting all this conect was a royal PITA. It was like pulling teeth. Since the racers are doing the site, it is hard to get content. I cannot take pics while I am racing, etc.
What we need to do is find a realibale way to generate content for the sites and have results, etc updated in a timly fashon. This takes people really. No content means crappy site.

I have talked to the creator (John i think) of the east coast HC website, because Chris Stiffler bought a site for the MWHC, John and I were going to help develop it, but unfortantly it didn't materalize, but you may want to talk to him about your concerns. he does good work he's responsible for the honda-acura.net site. I think its just a matter of somebody stepping up maybe a director in HC and taking the time to write articles and develpo the site better, but its hard when you can do it full time
We in the norCal region are currently working and trying to get everything updated.
For you HC racer's and potentails. You should really check out http://www.nasaforums.com

BINGO.
The ECHC already knows this is a serious problem.
The Fix: We have hired someone to do content updates in 2005. Hopefully, a race write-up, photos and driver profiles soon after each event. That's the plan.
Kerry voice on... "help is on the way"... Kerry voice off!
BTW- Thanks to Spiff and Daniel for doing the HC site(s) since 2002. Its a TON of work and no money.

I think that would be a great idea to promote HC. I am going to be the '05 Az region director and would gladly add updates on the site for AZ.

it wouldn't hurt to let each region have a "spokes person" of some sort to cover HC. he/she would be familiar with the drivers/teams and do the race reports and stuff...
IMO the website should have a backend where people who are not technically inclined can add race results/pics/bios easily. That way the workload would not rest entirely on one person's shoulders.
Hi, my name is Jim Howard and I work for NASA. National Chairman Ryan Flaherty (my direct boss) asked me to peek in on this thread and help in any way that I can. I maintain NASA's main site, http://www.nasaproracing.com (my main responsibility), and maintain/help with the series sites.
I've started a thread on the NASA Forums about Honda Challenge websites and I'd appreciate if you could weigh in with suggestions and comments there (since it is easier for me to monitor one forums sites).

That would be awesome if each driver was able to upload pics of their car, info about their team, and maybe even a blog-style method of posting updates...
