When taking off helmet, does it hurt your ears?
I just bought a brand new shoei voltage helm and it fits 'snuggled'. Whenever i take off the helmet, it feels ok until i reach my ears, it feels like my ears are going to be ripped off from the helmet.
I fit a large but it was loose, maybe i should try an arai or one of those Scorpion exo helms. Please let me know if any of yall experience this and if this is normal due to the helmet being new.
Thanks in advance,
FAS

It just needs to be broken in. Wear an Under Armor head wrap and it covers your ears. Might make it a little smoother when you take off the helmet.
How do you take your helmet off? When I first started riding I use to pull from the back of the helmet or just lift it straight up. It would hurt my ears a lot. Try lifting from the front kinda rotating it towards the rear.

thanks for the replies, I just got home from work. Well i did try the rotating from front to back, and it was a little less painful than taking my helmet off straight up. I also pull the straps apart putting the helm on and off. I located a local store thats selling the Scorpions, so i'm gonna have to scope that place out. Instead of a Under Armor, not sure what you mean't..i used a bandana. That really help'd, like 10x . My ears didnt hurt while taking my helm off.
I really don't like having my ears hurt, now its more of my left ear! Feels sore
Anyways, if i can get a cheaper helm, ill just return this 400 dollar beauty...

I've got a Scorpion EXO-700. At first it seemed hard to put on and it would fold my ears down when putting it on, which hurt a little bit. I thought it was a size too small, but once on the dude said it fit just right and just needed to get broken in. It has since broken in nicely and fits perfectly, and with a little practice I can now put it on a take off with no pain. Just gotta rotate it a little and it goes on and off nice and smooth
i have a shoei rf-1000 and what i did was take off the cushions that hurt your ear and pressed it in a book for about 2 days and now its better. they are removable

I wouldnt press the pads, it will make the helmet fit oddly. Just wait until you break the pads in more. As you wear the helmet it'll mold to your head.

Depends on how shaped your head is, i have big cheeks, when i put it on, i look like a fish so i just pressed it, hahaha

I have a Shoei X-11 and it hurts my ears as well when i am taking the helmet off. I found that if i take the helmet off by lifting it straight up to the point where my ears starts to get caught, then, i lifted it by left side and sliding the helmet off, that wouldn't hurt at all.
