SCCA keeps making good moves...
ALL NEW SCCA RULE BOOKS TO BE ONLINE IN 2005
TOPEKA, Kan. (Nov. 16, 2004) – In an effort to better serve its current and potential members, Sports Car Club of America has confirmed that the 2005 rule books for Club Racing, Solo and Rally will appear online through http://www.scca.com in 2005.
“This is something our members have asked for over the last couple years, and we’re glad to announce that everyone will have easy access to our rules beginning with the 2005 season,” SCCA Vice President of Program Development Howard Duncan said.
Previously available in electronic form only on an accompanying CD, the Club Racing General Competition Rules (GCR) and category specifications as well as the entire National Solo and RoadRally books will appear in Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf) online. Previously, only the SCCA Performance Rally and SCCA Pro Racing rules have appeared online.
“Publishing the Club Racing, Rally and Solo books online required an adjustment to some of our policies to remain consistent with our departmental revenue structures,” Duncan added. “All licensed Club Racing drivers will now automatically receive a current GCR each year as part of their license package, and at a $5 overall discount from previous years. In Solo, the requirement still exists to have a copy of the current rules in your possession at a National or Divisional event.”
As with the electronic file on the CD in previous years, the online version will not be considered an official document, but rather a reference. The hard copy of all rule books remains the official document.
Electronic versions of all of SCCA’s rulebooks will begin appearing on http://www.scca.com in mid-December, with all books available in .pdf format by January 1, 2005.

I believe the "user freindly " nature of NASA is putting pressure on SCCA to change or lose members. Younger gearheads that are looking at joining up with a sports car club now have choices that I didn't have when I was 18.

Meaning, we still have to have a hard copy on hand, per the rules? I guess it's only $20...a small fraction of what I'll be spending next year anyways. Actually, it'll be nice being able to keep the hard copy in the garage with the car, yet reference it online, in the house. Now you f00s can't use the excuse while posting here, "I don't have my GCR handy, what's the rule on....?"

Dropping the rally thing was in the best interest of the entire club. The road racers and AutoX (club majority) would not be willing to pay higher event costs to help support rally (club minority). I like rally too, but in the good old U (sue me)SA, rally unfortunately carries too much risk.

NASA doesn't think so, and thank god for that.

When you have a monoply and nobody questions or nobody can go crying to another series you can basically do what ever you want, but now people have the choice of running in Nasa. So I think its great their is compeition between Nasa and Scca makes it better for the consumers
I agree. I am a member of both NASA and SCCA...and support both organizations. A little "healthy" competition should serve to make both organizations stronger, and hopefully a better place for everybody in the long run.
