Default acuraproblems

I have a 98 Acura Integra GSR. Right now the car is making a popping noise and not allowing me to shift past about 6000 rpms (it varies sometimes). The car is fine for daily driving, but I cannot do my best runs at the track because of this. I have a MSD ignition box (w/o rev limiter), MSD coil, NGK plug wires and plugs, and MSD distributor cap. I think that the problem may be with the MSD box. Some people have told me that they regularly have failures.

Its either the msd ignition box or you didn't hook up the 3 wires that come out of the distributor and hook up to the coil right.

Can you hear vtec engauge and is the check engine light on?

I should have been more specific. The popping sound only comes when I am at about 6000-7000 rpms (it varies). When it makes this "t t t tt t t t t t t" (electrical sound), I am unable to push the needle past that given rpm, kind of like a REV LIMITER, but with the sound too. I believe that everything is hooked up all right. I haven't messed with the wires except unplugging one during the night as part of my car's "security". I'm thinking about checking out the spark plugs and the MSD 6A.
There is no loss in power or vtec. The only downside (which is huge for drag) is that I have to shift at 6000 rpms. I want to shift at 9000. Because of this, I ran only 14.1 w/ built bottom end, turbo.

BTW, my check engine light is permanently on. I have Hondata S200 and my stock rev limit was taken off completely during the dyno after I had broken in the engine.
