Default JDM Crx in cali? could there be less to it then u think? article in honda tuning

Well i guess so...i just read in an import magazine (i beleive honda tuning mag) that getting the sir here isnt as much as the rumors say...i use to think there was like a 5k dollar pay out on just getting everything examined and checked for DOT approval...well the guy with the article said Dont listen to all the rumors you hear on how hard it is to make it legal because its not. You just have to have patience. He said just get the car and stop by CHP and let them go from there..he never had to change the motor out to a D series or anything...anyone else read this article..?

mostly he just said he had to wait around on DMV crap and i think a prob he ran into was that his vin didnt match up with his motor so that was a concern but taken care of...he traded it for his sir hatch straight over to some 17 year old kid...said he was skeptical but got everything striaghtened out and its cool!!

Its honda-tuning. I read it, that crx was sweet!
I wouldn't have traded the hatch though.

Well the window sheild i didnt think were to bad...wait a min..did that car have spoon sports sticker across the from window? if it did that dude has been to my local shop for meets and is on password jdms pics too! hmm i dont think it was the same one but yea..i didnt mind the window sheild cause sometiems my cars foggin up and i only wish i had um..i was jus thinking aout the "2005 crx" and geez i swear i want to write a letter to honda or the design people and be like MAKE IT U *******!...if they do i just hope they really dont ruin the appearance and make it some crazy new style.. keep it more like 88-91 but round some stuff up and put a nice B16 in there with a better torque range ..if they did build it i cant believe its weighing in at 1700 pounds! ... thatd put it in guessing around a 14.3 1/4 off the floor and itd prolly be a six speed too so closer gears...god damn i wish..

Well if i am thinking of the same Sir hatch was it Si blue? And that 17 year old kid is a friend of a friend here in town, but this kids got money to spend(he's kinda spoiled) but my friend got to drive that car for a whole and he loved he was just about to buy it but then the other guy traded it for that hatch.

Obviously they knew it was a vtec engine....i'm sure that the owner didn't confirm weather it was a B18C or B18C5. Honda tuning wouldn't have any readers if they couldn't tell the difference between a B18c and a B18B. I assume that the owner of the vehicle just sent in his pictures and information....if staff would have been there they would have just looked at the engine code.....Honda- Tuning

Actually its a really nice car. The window guards are kind of tacky but they have their function. Its funny the integra in the next section of the H-tuning doesn't even have the B18 engine labeled as an B or C. In my opinion, the person who owns the car doesn't even know what is inside the engine hah.

I know in my state that if you have the engine and car shipped seperately you can put the engine back in when you receive it and register it as a kit car. Then the DMV just has to inspect it, which is just like a real inclusive state inspection.

damn, that sounds really promising, rather than the usual vin swaping i am so use to seeing where i live.

The only other thing that one would really need is someone in Japan to find you and send you a mint crx.

the one in the article is so damn nice.

Well heres some info on registering it..I called the DMV and foreign import and they said this information is needed..

Title from japan, Bill of sale, Vehicle history Verification(dmv does this), customs entry summary ( should recieve that when its shipped here) and smog.
OTHER INFO:
under the hood of the sir. If it has a label saying US, it means it meets US emissions and safety standards. Otherwise you can call honda and have them write you a letter saying if it does.

If doesn’t meet it then will need modification which can be expensive its called a certificate of conformance. Thats if it doesn’t meet US emissions. Then you have to call the tree huggin hippies of beter air or something to have anything adjusted.

Since its been done i guess you dont really have to deal with the hippies because it must meet safety standards well number one its the same damn car as here just a few different options but same metal same build(besides the bumpers, shhh) she asked if i had the vin but i dont have the car or anything...she told me she could prolly tell me if i had the vin... WE NEED SOMEONE WITH AN SIR TO GIVE US THEIR VIN #!!
