Default quick question.

I am going to be purchasing a header for my 99 civic ex. What would be a good buy for more low end power? (lookin for dc headers). The Civic is all stock except for cold air intake. I will be getting apexi n1 cat back exhaust also. I have a link with headers on it and im not sure which ones to buy. Could you guys here help me out? thanks. http://www.modacar.com/product...DAHEA/ (lookin for low end power)

DC header, 4-1 Ceramic pulls strong from 4000 RPM all the way to redline without losing any power down low.

therefore it doesnt make any low end power you want a 4-2-1

You will like the 4-2-1, get one with a CARB plate on it since you may be driving it on the streets of California. I got a cheapy Airmass 4-2-1, it works great with my cold air, I would keep your stock muffler imho.

Yeaa. ok so i think i will get 4-2-1 headers that are ceramic. Before i buy anything think you could check these links. http://www.modacar.com/products/Honda/Civic/1DS4C2
These are headers i will buy.
http://www.modacar.com/products/Honda/Civic/ANSCB
and this is the exhaust. This is all going on a 99 civic ex. DO i need to buy anymore parts to fit all this on my car? Do i have to order any more pieces of tubing to fit the headers to the exhaust or am i good to go, (just bolt everything together.) do i need to buy a cat also??

Do you want bling or not? That's the desicion you have to make.

4-1 = top end
4-2-1 = mid RPM power

you dont knwo what your talking about.

Correction:

4-1 has a lot better top end

4-2-1 has better mid-range and low end..so if you want more low end power go with a 4-2-1

so basically what im lookin at here for good low end power, i would want to get a ceramic dc 4-2-1 header.
Heres the catch which one of these headers?

get whichever one you want. they use a flange in the middle so you can install it in two peices or vice-versa. even with the flange like that i would still install/uninstall in one peice, just how i do it though.
edit: i would personally go with the one peice.

thanks lohatch. Before i go for the night i got one more question for you. So im gonna get the headers and the apexi n1 ehaust. Do i need to buy anymore components (tubing, cat..etc), or am i good to go, (just swap out old exhaust, and put new one on)?

first off you are only getting ONE header. V style motors have headers. off the top of my head i dont know if by using this DC header and the apexi exhaust if it will remove the need for your catalytic converter. i am thinking that the exhaust system will be made to bolt to the stock cat so you might want to look into running a highflow converter or a testpipe. just get the header and the exhaust and then check it out from there. if nothing else you can get by running your stock cat until you can get a testpipe/high flow converter.
edit: i just noticed you are in CA so if you are worried about emission you will probably want to look into a high flow catalytic converter. once again it might be wise to get the header and exhaust there so you know what length you need, etc. hope that gets you on your way.

Hmm, ok. The 4-1 header gives more top end power without sacrificing low-mid range and the 4-2-1 header gives more low-mid power without sacrificing top end. If we put both of these on the exact same car, theoretically, which one would perform better 1/4 mile times or would they be the same? I'm thinking that the 4-2-1 would be faster on a basically stock engine with or without minor bolt-ons because it has more horsepower and torque available sooner. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Why do you want low end? I mean if you go to the track and race your car your gonna want high end.. How often do you find your self in the low RPM's while racing... From what I under stand you'll loose some top end power if you go 4-2-1.
