Default NASA Race Car Inspections. - Northern Virginia

All NASA Race cars will require an annual inspection for the 2005 season before they will be allowed to participate in competition.

I will perform inspections for anyone who wants one at my shop by appointment ONLY starting December 15, 2004. These inspections will satisfy your 2005 annual inspection requirement.

I will also perform inspections at YOUR location for the right incentive.
This is a chance to get them done in time to get any corrections (if necessary) made before the first race.

Interest???

This is why I've never encouraged my little brother to post on any car forums.

Jim, I know you and I discussed this at the last event at Summit, and I just wanted to reclarify that a X-brace by itself will not be acceptable in 2005 as rear support for a cage. I remember that you said that the rear down tubes may have no more than 15 degrees of angle from their connection points between the main hoop and the rear of the car. Sill correct? Thanks again.

The down tubes coming from the top of the main hoop to the rear shock towers can have no more than a 15 degree deviation away from 90 degrees side to side. Technically the 90 degree angle would be "0" but sometimes it is easier to understand if you think of the downtubes starting at completely perpendicular which would be right (90 degree) angles on both sides of the tube.

if your main hoop is the horizontal plain (and it should be)... the main hoop is 0 degrees.... you might want a protractor... and turn it upside down to visualize. the down tubes have to be in between 75 and 105 degrees from the mainhoop (0 degrees).

Or, another way to think about it... the downtubes have to be within 15* of parallel to the fore/aft centerline of the car.

hmmm, actually, the main hoop would be the vertical plane (not plain, btw).

here's another way to look at it:

cut off the roof off the car, and look down into it from above. The main hoop would look like a line "---------------", and the down tubes like "|" if they are at 90deg.
THe down tubes can vary from "/" to "\" by 15 deg in each direction.

Any easier to visualize?

Great job of wording it in an easier to understand manner. Thanks to all for confirming what I had already believed to be true.

Sam, who is off to do some cage work some time in the near future.
