H23A to H22A, what all parts are needed?
Sorry, I don't have time to search. I have a customer at the Honda dealership I work at, looking to replace his 1995 Prelude H23A with an H22A. I found him a motor, but he insists he can use his trans on the h22a. Can he use the stock h23 tranny, and axles on the H22a? Also, if I get him a 2000 Prelude, will he have to use an OBD2-OBD1 jumper? Please, any help would be so so useful.
the h23 trans will work
axles probably wont but im not 100% sure
the engine is 2000 right?? you're not clear on that in the wording, but if so you dont need an obd2-1 jumper....you need an obd1 p13 ecu (h22) and you need to use his old h23 injectors/resistor box and distributor....but ill warn you the thing is gonna run weird with the h23 injectors on the h22 computer....

How can I get it to run perfect? Find a 94-96? H22a?

Man, hate to bust on you, but this is why you don't take your car to the dealership.

Why would u use the h23 trans on the h22? Isnt vtec off with the h23 trans? Other things to be thought of might be that hed need an OB2 conversion harness.

Assuming you get a 2000 H22A4 for a 1995 prelude
-H23A1 tranny can be used again, use the best condition clutch/flywheel also the same
- Axles are the same
- H22A4 OBDII P5M ecu cannot be used, get P13 OBDI H22A1 ecu from 93-95 lude, not 96 (OBDII)
- Swap H23A1 distributor onto H22A4 prelude, get H22A1 injectors (330cc) as the H22A4 injectors (290cc) are too small for the ecu you need to run
- run VTEC related wires from ecu plugs to engine if not on H23A harness
You don't want to OBDII the 95 prelude

Thanks, anything else I should know. Our top rated mechanic is going to do the work. He is Honda's ONLY Platinum Cert. mechanic. Straight up 39 years as a mechanic.

If I were you I would swap the H23 manual t-belt tensioner assembly to the H22A4, autotensioners tend to fail on the h22 often
Also, you will find since the motor is going OBDI will be the CKP sensor on the oil pump that does nothing, since that sensor is in th OBDI H23A distributor. Also the balancer belt gear and timing belt gears on the crank will have triggers that do nothing also..no big deal
Watch for the MAP sensor...it's likely on the firewall for the H23 and likely on the TB for the H22a...
That's all I can think of...just remeber sourcing 93-95 injectors and ecu are critical to making the fuel maps correct. 92-95 without changing the injectors wil run too lean. using an p5m ecu from an A4 will make the car impossible to start as it has an immobilizer
